Only 14 blocks from the Washington State Fair, the Puyallup Fish Hatchery operates today, as it has since 1949, nestled on 80 acres of beautiful natural habitat. In 2012 the Puyallup Hatchery was given new life when citizens came forward at a time it was about to be lost, got involved and created the Puyallup Historical Hatchery Foundation. laced on the Historic Registry in Washington State. Open daily to the public from 8am to dusk, visitors are able to see the various stages of trout and salmon development in the “nursery” and enjoy the trails behind the hatchery, past the Heron rookery and over Clark's Creek, up through deep canopied woods. The Educational Center, next to the hatchery, is open Saturday’s 10am to 2pm. The Puyallup Historical Hatchery Foundation, with a mission to promote watershed stewardship through education, offers guided tours on request.
