Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for those who gave their lives protecting the freedoms we enjoy every day.

At Pierce County Explorer Search and Rescue, we are especially grateful for the courage, selflessness, and dedication shown by our nation’s heroes. Their legacy of service continues to inspire our volunteers as we serve our community.

Please join us in taking a moment today to remember the fallen and the families who carry their memory forward.

Never forgotten.

Tomorrow is National Missing Children’s Day! This is an important reminder that we have a responsibility to protect every child from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Report suspected abuse or neglect by calling 911 or 1-800-ENDHARM (1-866-363-4276). Please make child safety a priority.

We would like to bring awareness to Misty Copsey today. Misty was just 14 years old when she went missing on September 17, 1992 from downtown Puyallup. We need your help, if you have any information, please contact us at 253-770-3343 or [email protected].

This week, as part of Washington States Search and Rescue Week, we want to recognize the dedicated volunteers of Pierce County Explorer Search and Rescue who give their time, energy, and heart to serving our community.

Our members train year-round to respond alongside the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office and other mutual aid partners during missing person searches, evidence searches, disaster response, and emergency incidents throughout Pierce County and beyond. Whether it’s the middle of the night, severe weather, or difficult terrain, our volunteers step up when people need help most.

Over the past year alone, our team has responded to dozens of missions, completed thousands of hours of training, and participated in community outreach and disaster operations — all while remaining a completely volunteer-powered and donation-funded organization.

Search and Rescue is more than finding missing people. It is teamwork, compassion, leadership, resilience, and service to others.

To every volunteer, family member, supporter, and partnering agency that makes this mission possible: thank you.

So Others May Live.
