🚨 8:30 P.M. WATER LEAK UPDATE

City crews are actively working to repair the water leak and locate the break in the line. As you can see in the attached photo, shifting ground has caused significant damage to the pipe, breaking it completely in half.

At this time, we do not have an accurate estimate for when water service will be restored. Our crews will continue working, and we will update the public as additional information becomes available.

A huge thank you to Scoots for bringing supper to our City crew tonight, and to the citizens of Quanah who have donated drinks and electrolytes. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Most importantly, Quanah is grateful for our City crews who are spending their evening away from their families to get this repaired and water service restored to our community. Please keep them in mind as they continue working tonight.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.

The City of Quanah’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting has been moved from Tuesday, September 8, to Thursday, September 10, 2026, due to the Labor Day weekend and required public notice requirements.

🚧 CITY CREWS AT WORK

Our City of Quanah crews are hard at work repairing a water leak near 10th & Mercer, and it is HOT outside! ☀️

If anyone would like to help keep our crews hydrated, the City is accepting donations of Gatorade, electrolyte drinks, and electrolyte supplements at the back of City Hall. Any donations would be greatly appreciated!

⚠️ Please avoid the area of 10th & Mercer at this time and give our crews plenty of room to work safely.

🛣️ STREET WORK UPDATE

Our City crew has been hard at work! Over the past 3 days, they filled more than 200 potholes and laid over 15,000 pounds of material throughout Quanah.

There is still work to be done, and we will continue working on our streets and doing our best to provide great service to our community.

A big thank you to our crew for putting in the work, and thank you to our residents for your patience as improvements continue!

Hello Quanah Community!

We wanted to inform the community that we have a very nice international visitor here in town! Mark is a foreign exchange University student from a small european country called Estonia doing his summer exchange program in Hardeman County area. Mark is selling early learning materials for little one’s and also educational study guides & apps from 1st grade all the way to the end of high school to help with school work.
He has received his permit from the city of Quanah & has also checked in with our department to be doing this.

We are posting this to let our Citizens know he will be in our Community this week.

WATER SYSTEM NOTICE

The City of Quanah is aware of concerns regarding the current discoloration of the water supply.

We want to make it clear that this discoloration is not originating within the City of Quanah’s water system. The water is arriving in Quanah from the Greenbelt Municipal & Industrial Water Authority in this condition.

Because the discoloration is present at the point the water enters Quanah’s system, flushing City water lines will not resolve the issue at this time. City crews cannot flush out discoloration that continues to enter the system from the water source.

This is not an issue originating with the City of Quanah’s water lines or distribution system. It is an issue with the water being supplied to the City by Greenbelt.

The City will continue monitoring the situation and will provide updates as additional information becomes available. We understand residents' concerns and appreciate your patience.
