Bruce Cornish and myself Robert (Bob) Houk had a delightful coffee meet up this morning as I made my way across Louisiana. Hadn’t seen each other in 46 years! As expected, we talked about our dogs, our family, and our health!
When I pulled into the coffee shop parking lot, I knew Bruce was already there because there was a big Ford dually truck in the parking lot. The expected ride of a old horse trainer and tanker! Then confirmed when I saw the Marine Corps Vet plates.

If you plan to be in the Camp Lejeune area, be aware that the Carolina Museum of the Marine will be opening tomorrow, June 8, 2026. Dedicated to the legacy of Marines and Sailors who served in the Carolinas, it hopes to inspire future generations with values like honor, courage and commitment.
All of us have stuff that our wives say “doesn’t fit the decor” of our fancy schmancy residences . They might fit well among the ancient 782 gear, busted rotor blades and Court Street souvenirs that belong in places like this. Consider visiting and donating.

If you came through NAS Pensacola back in the 80’s, chances are you made your way downtown and made the acquaintance of a gentleman informally known as Trader Jon. His establishment was the informal home of the Blue Angels and was frequented , from time time,by pretty much all Naval Aviators. Trader passed in 2000, but his “collection” is housed (since 2016) in the Museum of History on Jefferson St in Pensacola. I stopped by today and saw the exhibit for the first time. Impressive

Gentlemen, if you saw Terry’s email from last night, you know that we lost Bill Parks on Saturday. When I last spoke to him his attitude one of thankfulness for all that he got to see and experience in this life and a willingness to accept what would likely be his ticket to the next. His faith was huge.Juan Figueroa spoke to Jo Anne today and the eulogist is asking for any stories that we might have concerning Bill’s time in the Corps. The service is likely to be in a couple of days, so if you have anything at all to share, please send it most rickey tick. Please send anything you may have to Juan, or if you can’t reach him, call me and I’ll repeat all calls more distant from the guard house than my own.

Juan Figueroa and MiG Gallagher were greatly entertained last evening as the sweet sounds of our own Danny McDade lifted the room like a mist floating gently into a green valley filling their hearts as the Guinness filled their glasses.
You boys are looking good. Glad to see you together!

If you have such a get together, be sure to post, or send it to me and I’ll post it for you!
