Run Announcement - Mile 1,058

Tomorrow evening, Tuesday November 16th, Zechariah will run 1-mile (weather permitting) carrying his flag in honor of fallen Baxter Springs Fire Department Lieutenant Malachi Brown.

The run will take place at around 7:30PM ET and will be held in Zechariah's hometown of Central Florida. The run will be uploaded to the Running 4 Heroes page shortly after the run concludes. People will be able to view/share/comment on the run once it gets uploaded.

IMPORTANT: The Safety of Zechariah remains our #1 concern. Please be advised that Zechariah's run will continue to be dependent on Law Enforcement being present. Due to the current times, if we are unable to secure Law Enforcement for the run, the run will be postponed to a later date and time.

We encourage citizens and agencies from across the nation join our son in a 1-mile walk or run tomorrow evening at 7:30PM ET (4:30PM PT) to help honor this fallen hero.

Last Alarm: 11/10/21

September 11th, 2001 343 brave firefighters gave their lives in service to others. It has been 20 years since that day and we still remember, honor, and put effort into ensuring their names and legacies do not fade. This year members of the Quapaw Fire Department, as well as members from surrounding departments and civilians climbed in honor of these firefighters, but also for the thousands killed that day. We want to thank Josh Brinkley, Five Alarm Athletics Miami, the Quapaw Nation Color Guard, INTEGRIS Miami EMS, and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College for helping put on the event this morning to pay honor and respect to those heroes. WE WILL NEVER FORGET the sacrifice and love those firefighters gave 20 years ago.

These last few days have been overwhelming for our community. Our hearts go out to the families that have been involved in accidents these last few days and the loved ones left to heal from them. The Quapaw Fire Department has responded to 4 accidents in the last 5 days, 3 of which involving fatalities. Not only have the members of the Quapaw Fire Department volunteered to help others, they also spent 16 hours this weekend in between all of the accidents to attend a Swift Water Rescue course for our citizens. We are proud to represent our community and help those in need and the hard work and dedication of the members is appreciated by the community.

We are honored to have our virtual guest speaker FDNY Lt Joe Torrillo (ret). Lt Torrillo served with the FDNY for over 25 years. His first 15 years was with Engine Company #10 which was across the street from the South Tower of the World Trade Center. The morning of, 9/11/2001, he was to promote his education venue "The Fire Zone" and a new Fisher-Price Hero "Billy Blazes" when the terrorist attacks hit New York City.

Watch and listen to his amazing story below. We thank you Lt. Torrillo for all you do and taking time to speak with us. God Speed Brother

OKC 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

As this weekend comes to an end the OKC 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Committee wants to thank everyone for the awesome support and understanding. Yesterday morning we were supposed to be together as one remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11/2001.

Making the decision to go virtual was one of the hardest things the committee had to make. However you the participants, supporters, family members and volunteers did not let this deter you.

We thank everyone for sharing all your videos, photos, and ideas on how you remembered those that were taken 19 years ago.

We want to thank Jake Phillips with Garvin Fire Dept for making the video below.

Today Firefighter Jarrod McKibben and Captain Jason Garrison of the Quapaw Fire Department climbed 110 stories in remembrance of the fallen brothers and sister on 9-11-2001. Jarrod paid to participate in the OKC 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb but was unable to attend so he wanted to make sure he still honored the men and women that gave the ultimate sacrifices on 9/11. Today they both climbed 110 stories, up and down the bleachers, at the Quapaw Public Schools football field. Great job gentlemen!
