Thanks to Compleat Restorations for dinner before the company meeting. We enjoy some really great working relationships with many businesses in the fire service industry. After the meeting (in which 60 members attended), the company responded to a trash fire in East Drumore Township.

At 10:06 am Tuesday, QFD and LEMSA responded to our first call of September for a vehicle accident with entrapment in front of the Speedway on Beaver Valley Pike. Units arrived with a two-vehicle accident with one person confined. A quick door removal had the patient in EMS care qu**ky. QFD Fire Police, firefighters and Traffic 59 from Refton Fire Company handled traffic, running one lane in the area of the accident. The Company was in service 40 minutes.

Thanks to Tom Amico for the photos.

This is the QFD. 11 pm Saturday night. Behind the scenes, beyond the fire calls.

On the way to the silo fire, Truck 57 experienced an issue with an injector on the motor. We made it to the call and back, but it needed fixed. Instead of waiting for Monday and having the Truck out of service, a few phone calls were made, parts picked up and a mechanic lined up. Within a few hours the injector was replaced and at midnight, Truck 57 was back in service.

We could not do this without the help from our community. Susquehanna Truck Service for the parts, Milky Haven for the shop and our own Chief Engineer Carl Weicksel, Lt Matt Vickers and FF Mikey Carr for getting it done.

This also saved us quite a bit of money.

Just another weekend in Qville.

At 3:52 pm Saturday afternoon, Truck 57 was requested to assist Water Witch Fire Company of Port Deposit with a silo fire at 155 Mt. Ararat Farm Road in Cecil County MD. QFD has had many hours of training and experience on silo fires, and we carry some equipment for agricultural fires that not everyone does. After the 40 minute response, Truck 57 set up and assisted with extinguishing the fire in the unloading chute and in the product that was put in the silo this week.

Silo fires are a high-risk, low-frequency event, and we are fortunate to have firefighters that have dedicated hours and hours of their time to learn about and train on silo fires and other ag emergencies. We are also fortunate to have a direct contact with RescueTechs, LLC (Eric Rickenbach) that assists us with some of the training and also on scene via texts and pictures.

On a side note, we responded to this exact silo on 8/26/2018 for a fire while utilizing Gordonville FC's Truck while ours was out of service.

Also, Truck 57 had a misfiring injector on the trip, so we apologize to anyone that we "smoked out". It is being repaired tonight by QFD Volunteers and some other help.

Saturday morning, Engine 574 and Tanker 57 assisted Gap Fire Company on a water supply drill. Units operated in a nurse tanker water supply and sustained approximately 1,000 gallons per minute to the "attack units".

Another 5 hours of training to make our members better and our community safer.

Congratulations Brent and thanks to everyone who got a chance and helped to keep our fire company running.

So far this month we have had 52 incidents including several serious fires and accidents, 6 days/evenings training, multiple meetings, National Night Out and a work detail to help a life member.

Tonight, Truck and Utility 57 with 11 members traveled to Airville Volunteer Fire Company for a grain bin rescue class and drill. Part of the invite for the class was to see the benefits and versatility of the Truck on rescues of this type. Crews from Airville, Delta-Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company Station 57
and Fawn Grove FC spent an evening going.over the use of a coffer-dam type rescue tube, grain extracting auger and different techniques for rescue using ropes and aerials. At one point, Alliance Ladder 77 and Truck 57 worked in conjunction as a high point anchor for victim removal. Thanks to Airville for the jnvite and the chance to meet and train with other firefighters that we don't nkrmally have the chance to. And thanks to the QFF volunteers who did an outstanding job with some recently taught rope skills.
