A big Bulldog shoutout to Riverlynn Berry, who shared her thoughts on Pandy's Bad Day as part of our Summer BookTok Challenge!

Riverlynn will be a 1st grader at J.K. Hileman Elementary this fall, and we're so proud to see her spending part of her summer reading and sharing books with others. Developing a love of reading is one of the best ways to keep learning going all summer long!

Way to go, Riverlynn! Keep turning those pages and inspiring other young readers to join the challenge. πŸ“–πŸ§‘πŸ–€

🎣 Learning was in full swing outside the classroom for Ms. Cornett's 8th grade science students!

Students traded textbooks for tackle boxes as they spent the day fishing while exploring real-world science concepts. From observing aquatic ecosystems and discussing habitats to practicing patience and teamwork, the trip provided a hands-on learning experience that brought science to life.

The day was filled with fresh air, laughter, and plenty of memorable moments as students enjoyed time outdoors and even reeled in a few impressive catches. Experiences like these help students make meaningful connections between classroom lessons and the world around them while creating memories that will last for years to come. πŸŸπŸŒΏβ˜€οΈ

πŸ₯©πŸ“šπŸŽ‰ Learning Served Up Texas Roadhouse Style! πŸŽ‰πŸ“šπŸ₯©

JKH 4th graders wrapped up the school year with an unforgettable field trip to Texas Roadhouse, where learning met real-world careers in a fun and engaging way!

The Texas Roadhouse team went above and beyond to create hands-on activities aligned with the skills students have been practicing all year. Students used math and problem-solving skills to determine how much each steak should weigh when given a pound of beef and a set number of steaks to prepare. They calculated how many trays would be needed to serve a certain number of rolls and put their teamwork and coordination to the test in a relay race carrying serving trays loaded with dishes and utensils. To top it all off, they even learned a line dance from the Roadhouse staff!

After all their hard work, students enjoyed a delicious lunch of their choice, including steak bites, chicken strips, mac and cheese, or cheeseburgers, followed by ice cream for dessert.

As if the day couldn't get any better, every student left with a certificate for a free kids meal, Texas Roadhouse pencils, and a special souvenirβ€”a rubber duck disguised as an armadillo!

A huge thank you to the Texas Roadhouse staff, especially the incredible event coordinator, Kerry Nienkamp, who made the day both educational and memorable. Our Bulldogs had a blast while seeing firsthand how the skills they're learning in school can be applied in the workplace every day! πŸΎπŸ§‘πŸ–€
