Starting April 2nd, Pinal County Air Quality will begin issuing only 3-day open burning permits. All permits will expire by May 1st, and Pinal County will suspend the issuance of all open burning permits on April 30th.

Burn permits allow for the disposal of plant material by open burning during limited daytime hours.

Additionally, State law prohibits open burning in Area A from May 1 through September 30. The Pinal County portion of Area A includes Apache Junction, Queen Creek, Gold Canyon, San Tan Valley, and portions of Florence.

The annual cycle of rising temperatures will quickly dry seasonal vegetation, leading to an acute wildfire risk in the desert and upland areas of the County.

The suspension of burn permits will continue until the summer monsoons arrive, mitigating the dual risks to public safety and public health.

Congratulations JC

Please join us in congratulating Engineer John ā€œJCā€ Christensen on his retirement. šŸŽ‰
JC has been an integral part of SFMD for many years, serving as a highly knowledgeable and dedicated engineer and mentor. Throughout his career, he has played a key role in developing our engineer processes, mentoring future engineers, and instructing EVOC.
He has helped train multiple probationary firefighters and has spent the majority of his career assigned to one of our busiest trucks, consistently showing up, leading by example, and setting the standard.
JC’s experience, steady presence, and commitment to the fire service have left a lasting impact on this department and the many firefighters he has mentored along the way.
We thank him for his years of dedicated service and wish him a well-earned and fulfilling retirement.
Congratulations, JC!!!

Thank you for your support.
