🐢 P.S. 55 Family Reminder: Please Keep Squishies at Home!
Dear Families,
We know that squishies are fun, colorful, and hard to resist! However, we are asking families to please ensure that students do not bring squishies or similar squishy toys to school.
While these toys may seem harmless, they have become a distraction during instructional time and can create unnecessary challenges throughout the school day.
Some of our concerns include:
🧠 Distractions from Learning: Students may become more focused on playing with, showing, or trading squishies than participating in classroom activities.
🤝 Student Conflicts: These popular toys can lead to disagreements over sharing, borrowing, trading, or misplaced items.
🧼 Health and Safety: Some squishies can break open, leak sticky substances, or tear into small pieces, creating potential safety and cleanliness concerns.
🎒 Lost or Damaged Items: We want to avoid situations where students become upset because a favorite toy has been lost, damaged, or taken by another student.
We understand that some students benefit from sensory tools. Any sensory items needed as part of a student’s individual learning or support plan should be discussed with their teacher or school support team.
