My office is aware of a planned "protest" this evening targeting the Young Israel of Jamaica Estates. I have been in contact with the 107th NYPD Precinct who will be deploying officers to keep the community safe.

I am deeply disturbed by this action that comes off the heels of multiple incidents of antisemitic vandalism and intimidation in Queens and throughout New York. We cannot tolerate hate of any kind and I strongly denounce any action targeting a house of worship. Jewish New Yorkers deserve to feel safe at home, at prayer, and in the community.

My office was notified this morning by NYC Emergency Management about the explosion and subsequent five alarm fire in South Richmond Hill.
I want to commend the professionalism and bravery of our first responders from the NYPD and New York City Fire Department (FDNY) whose quick actions saved lives and prevented further tragedy.

As of this evening, I've been made aware that FDNY has placed the incident "under control" and Fire Marshals will continue to investigate the incident.
NYC Buildings has issued a full vacate to the fire building and 107-53 130th Street which is a two-story building with two residential units.
NYPD remains on scene providing site security and enforcing street closures.

As part of the Queens Bus Network Redesign post-implementation evaluation period, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority - MTA has launched a new survey for Queens bus customers to share their experience since the new network was implemented last summer.

The survey is available online at http://www.mta.info/QBNRSurvey1 through March 6, 2026.

This survey should take less than 10 minutes and responses will help inform future improvements to bus service in Queens.
