Join us for a free Community Education Forum at Potter Woods on Wednesday, June 24, at 5:30 p.m.

Forester Tom Gilman of F&W Forestry Services will discuss the history of the Potter Woods plantation, explain why the red pine was harvested, share what residents can expect next, and answer questions from attendees.

The event begins at the Potter Woods entrance on Potter Road and includes a walk into the woods, so please wear comfortable walking shoes.

The heat and air quality concerns of summer are just around the corner, and New York State has released its list of cooling centers/clean air centers for this year. 14 have been designated in Warren County, from Glens Falls to Hague. This list was put together with input from our staff and our friends at Warren County Office of Emergency Services.

These are locations where folks can go to get out of the heat while these facilities are open. Please call ahead if you decide you need to cool off, and if you are concerned about heat stroke or other illness, call 911.

Our Climate Smart Task Force held its quarterly meeting on Wednesday, and a group of 13 had a broad discussion about energy literacy, battery storage sites, public outreach and more.

Plans are in the works for a public event in the fall focused on helping improve public understanding of energy use and more. Details will be announced when finalized.

Our Climate Smart Task Force meetings, led by Senior Planner Matthew Smith, are open to the public, and the next one is set for September 30, starting at 10 a.m. at Warren County Municipal Center's Human Services Building.

Thanks to our friends at Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District, Warren County NY Public Health, Warren County Office of Emergency Services, Town of Queensbury, North Country Earth Action, and county residents for taking part.

Proceeds benefit Queensbury Senior Center, supporting programs and activities that help over 1,400 seniors age well through social connection, wellness, lifelong learning, and community engagement.
