used to inform, announce, educate, recognize, celebrate, build awareness, clarify, entertain, and/or share and promote the mission, vision, beliefs, goals, programs, and initiatives of HRES and Shenandoah County Public Schools. Posts and other content added by the administrators of HRES social media platforms are official HRES information. By using or accessing the social media page of HRES, you agree to comply with the applicable social media platform’s Terms and Conditions. HRES reserves the right to remove content, including:
-Conduct that violates the terms and conditions of the applicable social media platform (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
-Illegal conduct or encouragement of illegal activity
-Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates prohibited discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation
-Conduct that is threatening, inciting, harassing, or bullying
-Content that is unrelated to the original HRES post
-Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party, such as copyright or trademark infringement
-Information that is false
-Content that compromises the safety or security of HRES, any of its schools, staff, or students
-Personnel information, individually identifiable student information, or other confidential material
-Profane language or content
-Promotions of services or products
-Promotions of political candidates or organizations
-Sexual harassment or sexual content
-Solicitations of commerce or advertisements including promotion or endorsement
-Spam or comments that include links to external online sites
-Conduct that is otherwise in violation of School Board policies or that reasonably may lead to the substantial disruption of or material interference with HRES school operations
Comments in violation of these terms and conditions may be removed from the applicable HRES official social media platform. Users are encouraged to report content that violates the social media platform's Terms and Conditions by using the official procedure for the applicable social media platform. Individuals should be aware that their comments or posts on social media may be subject to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and records retention requirements. HRES and Shenandoah County Public Schools may be obligated to retain public comments in its records and/or disclose the information if requested.

We invite all families to complete a brief Title I survey to help us improve how we support students and partner with families.

Title I is a federal program that provides additional support to schools to strengthen learning, especially in reading and math. Your feedback will help us better plan family events, improve communication, and provide meaningful resources for the upcoming school year.

The survey should take just a few minutes to complete, and all responses are anonymous.

🐝 MEET THE HIVE

We are excited to welcome Ms. Mulder to the Hive this year!

Ms. Mulder brings eight years of teaching experience, all of which were spent at Sandy Hook Elementary. Throughout her career, she has taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades and is eager to begin this new chapter at Ashby Lee Elementary.

Originally from Manassas, Virginia, Ms Mulder has called the Shenandoah Valley home for the past 13 years. She attended James Madison University, where she earned two degrees as a proud Double Duke. She currently lives in New Market, near the river and historic battlefield.

Outside of the classroom, Ms. Mulder enjoys kayaking, hiking, reading, watching movies and television, attending sporting events at all levels, and expressing her creativity through crafting and painting.

A few fun facts about Ms. Mulder:
🐝 She is highly competitive, loves games, and participates in weekly trivia competitions in Harrisonburg.
🐝 She is a devoted fantasy fan. Whether it's books, movies, or television series, she loves exploring imaginative worlds. Harry Potter remains one of her all-time favorites.
🐝 She has two Labrador Retrievers, Loki, a silver lab, and Louis, a black lab, who keep life fun and active.

Meet the Hive!
Please join us in welcoming Ms. Jill Enslen to the Hive family! 🐝

Ms. Enslen is originally from Harrisonburg, Virginia, and holds a Bachelors in Art from Eastern Mennonite University. She also holds a Certificate in Deaf Studies from Gallaudet University and is currently working toward a Master’s in Education degree at Mary Baldwin University.

We are excited to have her join our team and share her creativity and passion for education with our students!

Outside of school, Ms. Enslen enjoys baking, watercolor painting, quilting, beach trips, trying new restaurants, visiting art museums, and playing retro video games with her kids.

A few fun facts:

School is out, summer meals are in! Shenandoah County Public Schools is participating in the Seamless Summer Option and will be providing nutritious, free meals to children and teens ages 18 and under. Breakfast and lunch will be available June 1 through June 29 and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis at the sites and times listed below:

Ashby-Lee Elementary School (480 Stonewall Lane Quicksburg, VA 22847)
W. W. Robinson Elementary School (1231 Susan Avenue Woodstock, VA 22664)
Sandy Hook Elementary School (162 Stickley Loop Strasburg, VA 22657)

MEET THE HIVE

Please help us welcome one of our newest Busy Bees to the hive!

Originally from Augusta County, Virginia, Mr. Jacob Meadows graduated from James Madison University in the spring of 2022 with a degree in Music Education.

For the past four years, he has been the music teacher at Ruckersville Elementary School in Greene County, Virginia, where he taught K-5 general music classes, led a 4th & 5th grade choir club, organized the annual Veterans Day Celebration, and directed a spring musical each year!

Outside the classroom, Mr. Meadows enjoys reading, cooking, and playing music. As an actively performing musician, he continues to grow and strengthen musical talents while sharing a love of music with students and the community.

Help us welcome one of our newest Busy Bees to the hive!

Ms. Haley May graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science and brings so many unique experiences and talents to our school family!

When she’s not in the classroom, she loves hiking, rock hounding, baking, and crafting creative projects.

She also holds an FAA UAV (drone) license β€” how cool is that?! 🚁✨

Here are a few fun Hive Facts about Ms. May:

🐾 She has a husky and a terrier mix
πŸ¦™ She used to work on an alpaca farm in high school
🎨 She loves hands-on creativity and outdoor adventures

Originally from Woodstock, Virginia,Ms. Emily Funkhouser attended James Madison University and is excited to begin her very first year of teaching!

When she’s not in the classroom, she loves spending time outdoors fishing, swimming, and kayaking. She also enjoys crocheting and making memories with her family.

MEET THE HIVE!

Help us give a warm welcome to our newest 1st grade teacher!

We are so excited to welcome Ms.Hannah Haley to our school family for her very first year in her own classroom!

Originally from Fairfax, Virginia, Ms. Haley recently graduated from James Madison University in May 2026 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. While this may be her first year leading her own classroom, teaching is nothing new to her β€” she has been teaching dance since she was just 13 years old!

After completing her student teaching experience at Ashby-Lee, she knew this was exactly where she wanted to begin her teaching career. She is thrilled to start this exciting journey as a 1st grade teacher and cannot wait to meet her students and families!

When she’s not teaching, Ms. Haley loves staying creative and active. She enjoys dancing, reading, crafting fun DIY projects and classroom materials, flying airplanes, and spending time with her furry friends β€” a dog, cat, and hamster! She also loves anything colorful, sparkly, and fun!
