Quimby Fire Department The Quimby Fire Department is located in Cherokee County, Iowa and serves the town of Quimby. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month.

Quimby Fire & Rescue is a full volunteer department with EMT services that serves Quimby and provides mutual aid to surrounding communities. We respond to multiple types of calls including structure fires, vehicle fires, vehicle accidents, rescue calls, and more. We also provide controlled burn services and aid neighboring departments with wildland fires. The department’s officers are made up of e

lected officials including Fire Chief, First and Second Assistant Chief, Secretary and Treasurer. Training sessions are scheduled for the third Tuesday of each month and are led by the elected training officer. We rely on donations and fundraising events to help offset the costs of training and equipment needed by the department. The department also utilizes grant writing opportunities to be put towards equipment and building maintenance. Here’s the view from the inside of one of our Army trucks during a recent field fire. Traditionally, this would be fought by somebody on the tailgate of a pickup eating all that smoke, dust, and ash. Not only do these Army trucks save our guys from those elements, but they can also be operated by one person, freeing up the rest of us to help in other areas.
