The forecast is saying we will see our first heatwave of the season this week. Beat the Heat using some of these tips. For indoor cooling options, the Kennedy Center, located at 400 E. Squantum St., will be open from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. The Thomas Crane Public Library's main branch, located at 40 Washington St., will be open Mon-Thurs from 9 am - 9 pm & on Fri from 9 am - 5 pm. The City of Quincy Emergency Management and Quincy Police Department were proud to assist the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), Concord MA Police Department, Concord MA Fire Department, and the National Parks Service in support of the Town of Concord annual Patriots Day Parade. Quincy Emergency Management provided a mobile command post for today’s parade.

A storm, with the potential for high winds and rain is forecasted for Thursday, April 4, 2024. The storms expected arrival will coincide with high tide at 7:40am. Due to the potential of a storm surge causing flooding, we want to give residents and commuters time to plan accordingly as we expect road closures in the following locations between 6:30am-8:30am:

🚧 Newport Avenue at the West Squantum St. Overpass

🚧 Marina Drive

🚧 East Squantum St. at Huckins Ave.

🚧 Spring Street

🚧 Rock Island Road

🚧 Rhoda Street

We urge residents not to drive through large bodies of water for their safety and their vehicles safety.

- Remember to keep pets indoors whenever possible!!

As temperatures drop, don’t forget about your pets. with these winter pet safety tips:

1. Keep your pets indoors when possible
2. Care for your pet’s feet
3. Provide extra food and water – they’re expending energy to stay warm
4. Use a leash when walking near water
5. Keep chemicals like antifreeze out of reach
6. Check around your vehicle before starting the engine
