Fatal Drowning at Oakland Camp

On Sunday, May 10, 2026, the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible drowning at Oakland Camp near Spanish Creek.

Deputies, emergency medical personnel, and bystanders immediately began life-saving efforts on an adult male pulled from the water. Despite extensive resuscitation attempts, the individual was unfortunately pronounced deceased.

There is no indication of foul play. The decedent has been identified as 19‑year‑old Jacob Burke of Lovelock, Nevada.

Our thoughts are with Jacob’s family and friends during this difficult time. PCSO would also like to thank the emergency responders and bystanders who assisted at the scene.
