Mt. Pleasant, FL Volunteer Fire Department The Mount Pleasant Fire Department is an all-Volunteer Fire Department in Gadsden County Florida.

We are a small rural all volunteer fire department that was founded in 1968 and strives to provide the highest quality of fire and rescue service to the citizens and visitors of our community. We meet at the fire station on the first Monday of the month at 7:00pm. Please feel free to stop by and meet your firefighters or just come learn more about your fire department. Our firefighters take pride

in serving our community and we are always looking for new members to help serve the community. If you are interested in joining, please stop by during one of our monthly meetings or contact us via email, Facebook, or by phone. Mount Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, Inc is a 501c(3) Non-Profit organization, if you or your company would like to donate items or make a monetary donation, please contact us. Mt Pleasant Firefighters were dispatched to one call yesterday afternoon and one very early this morning. The first was for a fire in a residence off of Bainbridge Highway where the resident was able to put the fire out prior to arrival of the first in department.

The second was for a motor vehicle crash on Dewey Johnson Way that was reported as a vehicle vs a deer and then a tree.

In both incidents the department on scene was able to handle and cancelled our response.

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 110 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of Big Bend and Panhandle Florida.

* WHEN...From noon EDT today to 7 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for the FL Panhandle & Big Bend, portions of SE Alabama and SW Georgia until 8:00pm EDT this evening.

Over the coming days we'll see oppressive Feel-Like (Heat Index) temps retreat towards the coast as some drier air comes in from the north. Actual temps will still be hot, generally in the mid to upper 90s. 🥵☀️
