🚨Critical Water Infrastructure Work Planned🚨

⏰Tomorrow 6/17/26 beginning at 8am

🪏💦DPW crews will be on the Robertson Street Bridge cutting/capping the water line as part of critical infrastructure repairs. Crews will start at the Home Depot driveway on the Robertson St bridge. Once finished, crews will move to the shoulder lane at Robertson/Bryant/Grove.

⚠️Lane shifts are anticipated. At this time, we do not anticipate any lane closures or detours.

🚔Please use caution when traveling through the area and adhere to any posted signage, cones, and police instruction.

The 75th Annual Quincy Flag Day Parade and Celebration is being held THIS Saturday, June 13th. Planned road closures and impacts are as follows:

Traffic:
5:00 pm - Roadways making up the formation area of the parade will be closed to allow the various bands, floats, youth groups, and specialty units to be assembled and coordinated by the parade committee. These roads include:

• Hancock St. between Russell Park and Coddington St.
• Washington St between Coddington St and McGrath Hwy.
• Temple St. between Granite St. and Washington St.
• Foster St.
• Maple St.
• Coddington St. between Hancock St. and Newcomb St.

Quincy Police will be at all major intersections to assist with directing and detouring traffic to the surrounding roads that remain open. During this time, limited access will be available for residents and employees of businesses on closed roads. Access to Kilroy Garage will remain open via Dennis Ryan Parkway to Cottage Avenue and from Revere Road.

6:30 pm - The parade route will be secured by closing Hancock Street from Russell Park to Merrymount Parkway. Roadways that feed Hancock Street will also be closed to provide a safe and pleasant parade-watching experience.

7:00 pm - The parade will step off from the intersection of Hancock Street and Coddington Street. The parade will last approximately one hour. Roadways will be reopened in a rolling fashion as the parade moves north on Hancock Street, after street cleaning, and as determined safe by the Quincy Police. It's expected that roads in Quincy Center will be reopened by 8:00 pm or earlier. Merrymount Parkway will remain closed through the end of the fireworks display.

Parking:
On Parade Day, no parking will be allowed on the parade route and on the roads used to stage the parade after 3:00 pm. Temporary "No Parking" signs will be installed along the parade route by Thursday, June 11th. Quincy Police will begin removing vehicles from the parade route no later than 5 p.m. to ensure public safety and provide adequate space for the floats and bands to move along the route. Quincy Police will make every effort to move cars collaboratively, but will tow vehicles if necessary.

Sea Street Reconstruction Update:

Please be advised that sidewalk work on the MassDOT-funded and led reconstruction of Sea Street is scheduled to restart the week of June 15th. Excavated sections of sidewalk will be reinstalled. MassDOT and the Contractor will then continue to work with the City to identify any other areas requiring sidewalk repair or replacement.

Milling and Paving for the section of roadway between Moffat Rd and Palmer Street is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of July 13th, continuing into the week of July 20th. No schedule has yet been received for paving on the section of roadway between Moffat and Samoset.

Milling will be conducted during the day. Final paving is currently planned to be conducted at night.

Please allow for schedule changes based on weather and other unforeseen issues.

Please use caution and leave extra time for your commute.

🚨Traffic advisory🚨

The Quincy Police Department is aware of a power outage affecting several neighborhoods in the city, National Grid has been notified and is responding. The outage is affecting traffic lights in several intersection.

As a reminder:

🚦If a traffic light is not functioning, treat as a stop, proceeding only when safe to do so.
🚦Flashing yellow, drivers should proceed with caution as traffic permits.
🚦Flashing red: treat lights as a stop sign.

Drive slowly and with caution when approaching any of these intersections.

The City of Quincy participated in a Road Safety Audit focused on the Fore River Rotary and the intersection of Washington Street and South Street.

Representatives from several City Departments, City Council, MassDOT, MBTA, Boston Region MPO, and engineering firm Fuss & O’Neill met to identify and discuss safety challenges that will help shape a future infrastructure project at this location.

The City is excited to have completed this important project milestone and to move this project forward. Thanks to all who attended.
