TRAFFIC ADVISORY: I learned today that National Grid will complete the final phase of Newport Ave road construction from Monday, August 31, through September 4. This last section is Newport Ave from Beale St to Lillian Rd, shown in red on the map. Please use alternate routes.
Thankfully, this is the end of National Grid’s work to upgrade the electrical infrastructure under the roadway. It’s been a long time coming!

Last night, I joined the Friends of Ruth Gordon Amphitheater to recognize The Ruddercrew for their contribution to our community’s music scene and community building. Congratulations to Kevin Coughlin (former Ward 3 Councilor), Matt Coughlin, Matthew and Conevery Valencius, Janet O'Donoghue, Patrick Noe, and Jim Carroll on this well-deserved recognition.

Not many people may know this, but each and every member of the Ruddercrew is a current or former resident of Ward 3, with the exception of their latest member, Jim Carroll. Jim became a member after the loss of the band’s dear friend and Ward 3 neighbor, Leo Sullivan, from Small St, who lost his battle with cancer in the spring of 2025. Thank you to Sara Trainor Callard and the Friends of RGA for allowing me to say a few words. I was able to preview that the Rudder Crew will also be recognized at an upcoming City Council meeting for their contribution to community building - something near and dear to my heart. More to come on that. Friends of Ruth Gordon Amphitheater
