🔥 HUNT COUNTY BURN BAN NOW IN EFFECT 🔥

🚨 ATTENTION HUNT COUNTY RESIDENTS 🚨

The Hunt County Burn Ban is now in effect. Due to extremely dry conditions and elevated fire danger, all outdoor burning is prohibited in accordance with the county burn ban.

Please help us protect our homes, families, property, and firefighters by following the burn ban.

🚫 NO OUTDOOR BURNING
🔥 Do not burn brush, trash, leaves, or other combustible materials outdoors.
⚠️ Use extreme caution with anything that could create a spark or ignite a fire.

One small fire can quickly become a large, dangerous wildfire under these conditions.

🚒 Community Support Needed 🚒

The Tawakoni South Fire Department is asking for the community's help. As our firefighters continue serving and protecting our area, we are in need of donations of bottled water and Gatorade to help keep our crews hydrated during emergency calls, training, and the hot Texas summer.

Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated and makes a real difference for the men and women who serve our community.

If you would like to donate, please drop off bottled water or Gatorade at the Tawakoni South Fire Department 10407 FM 429 or contact us 903-356-0141 to arrange a pickup.

Hunt County ESD 2 is a community-driven initiative designed to secure a safer, more reliable future for Southern Hunt County by providing stable, dedicated support to our local fire departments. It unites three dedicated local districts into a stronger, collaborative safety net:

South Hunt County Fire Rescue (purple)

Tawakoni South Volunteer Fire Department (yellow)

Tawakoni Volunteer Fire Dept. (orange)

The ESD 2 is a proposed property tax that funds ONLY Fire/Rescue services within its boundaries and can be no higher than $0.10 on the $100 of the assessed property value. That is a 0.1% tax on the assessed value. The proposed ESD strives to meet 3 main goals:

1. Stability for Our Heroes
Right now, volunteer departments rely heavily on unpredictable donations, fish fries, and fundraisers to buy expensive life-saving equipment. ESD 2 provides a stable, dedicated funding stream so firefighters can focus entirely on saving lives and protecting property rather than worrying about the next electric bill.

2. Enhanced Local Protection
By pooling resources across Southern Hunt County, the district can better ensure that modern equipment, advanced training, and reliable resources are always available. This directly translates to faster response times and better protection for your home and family.

3. A Unified Front for the Community
The proposed district brings the unique strengths of three local fire departments together under one supportive umbrella. It ensures that no matter where you live in the southern part of the county whether it's Quinlan, Cash, Hawk Cove, West Tawakoni, or Weiland you receive the same high standard of emergency care.

A public hearing on the petition to create Hunt County Emergency Services District No. 2 and presentation will be held

July 7, 2026

Each person who has an interest in the creation of the proposed district may attend the hearing and present grounds for or against creation of the proposed district.
