FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Structure Fire Response – Quinlan, TX

Quinlan, TX — TSVFD responded to a reported structure fire at 9731 Shawnee Lane in Quinlan, Texas. Mutual aid assistance was provided by South Hunt Fire Department, Lone Oak Fire Department, West Tawakoni Fire Department, and Hunt County Ambulance 105.

Upon arrival, incident command was established by Chief 15, who observed heavy smoke coming from the roof of the structure. Firefighters made entry to conduct a primary search and encountered significant fire conditions in the attic area. Due to limited access through the front door, crews entered through a side door to complete the search.

The structure was cleared, and no occupants were found inside. Fire attack operations were initiated, with crews focusing on containing and extinguishing the fire located primarily in the attic. Heavy smoke was visible from multiple sides of the residence.

Chief 215 arrived shortly after and assisted with operations, including conducting a secondary search and supporting fire suppression efforts. Once it was confirmed that no occupants were inside, crews began overhaul operations, removing sections of the ceiling to fully extinguish remaining fire and eliminate hot spots.

The fire was successfully contained to the attic area. No civilian injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

TSVFD would like to thank all assisting agencies for their coordinated response and support.

❄️ ❄️ ICE SAFETY 101 ❄️ ❄️

Whether you’ve lived here forever or you just got here from a warmer state, remember: Ice is not snow. It is heavier, slicker, and more damaging to power lines.

Here is how to get through the weekend safely:

🛑 THE "DO NOT" LIST

• Do NOT go near downed power lines. Call 911 immediately.

• Do NOT slam on your brakes if you slide on ice. Ease off the gas and steer gently.

• Do NOT walk under ice-heavy trees. We call falling limbs "Widow-Makers" for a reason.

âś… THE "TO DO" LIST

• Report Outages: If your power is out, call your Power Company!!

• Report Blocked Roads: Call 903-453-6800 for trees across the road or water main breaks.

• Stay Home: The best way to avoid an accident is to stay off the roads entirely.

Trust your gut. If you feel like a situation is an emergency, call 911. We are here for you!
