Dear Quinton Township School Families,
The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain among our highest priorities. As part of our continued commitment to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and secure learning environment, we are pleased to share that Quinton Township School will have armed security officers on campus during the school day beginning this school year.
The district will be partnering with KD Security, whose officers bring years of valuable law enforcement experience to our school community. We are excited to welcome them as members of our Quinton Family and look forward to the relationships they will build with our students, staff, and families.
Because of the nature of the partnership, families may see different KD Security officers at various times throughout the school year. While their primary responsibility is to support the safety and security of our school, we also want our officers to become familiar and trusted members of our school community. They will regularly circulate throughout the building and grounds, interact with students and staff, and speak with visitors who arrive at the school throughout the day.
Our security officers will also provide an additional layer of support when situations arise that may require evaluation or assistance from law enforcement. They will have direct communication with local law enforcement and will become members of our district's Threat Assessment Team, adding their professional experience and perspective as we carefully evaluate circumstances that could affect the safety or well-being of our students and staff.
We recognize that the presence of armed security may be new for some of our students and families. Our goal is for students to see our security officers as approachable, supportive adults who are here to help keep our school safe. Building those positive relationships will be an important part of their role at Quinton.
Families and students will have an opportunity to meet our new security officers at our Back to School Bash on September 3, where we invite you to join us for Popsicles on the Playground. We hope this informal gathering provides an opportunity to say hello, ask questions, and begin getting to know the officers who will be part of our school community.
We appreciate the opportunity to add this important resource to our school safety program. School safety is a shared responsibility, and this partnership provides another valuable layer of support as we continue working to ensure that Quinton Township School is a place where students can learn, grow, and thrive in a safe and caring environment.
