***ATTENTION***
Today from 7:am until 4:pm, The Clarke County 911 facility will be down for upgrades.

Secondary procedures are be in place to ensure that no emergency calls go unanswered.

Clarke County Fire Chief, Bradley McNeece asks the Viewers of CCHT to; “Please bear with us through the process. All 911 lines and admin lines will be operational”.

Also, if a non-emergency, non-life threatening call can wait, please refrain from calling during these times to eliminate unnecessary stress on the system, 911 Dispatchers and to prevent calls from rolling over to another county.

Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated.

We will update you when things return to normal.

* At 650 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Rose Hill, or 15 miles southeast of Newton, moving northwest at 10 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* This severe thunderstorm will be near... Garlandville around 700 PM CDT. Hickory around 705 PM CDT.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe storms in Mississippi from Wednesday afternoon (5/6/26) into early Thursday morning (5/7/26).

Mississippi could experience:

🧊Hail up to golf ball size
🌪️Tornadoes (strong tornadoes are possible)

* Tornado Warning for... Southeastern Jasper County in east central Mississippi... Southwestern Clarke County in east central Mississippi... Northeastern Jones County in southeastern Mississippi...

* Until 345 PM CDT.

* At 259 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Vernon, or 12 miles southeast of Bay Springs, moving east at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and ping pong ball size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near... Sandersville, Heidelberg, and Stafford Springs around 305 PM CDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
