Our turnout gear protects us on every call — now it’s our turn to protect ourselves by keeping it clean. Smoke, soot, and other contaminants can stay trapped in gear long after the fire is out, which is why regular cleaning is so important for firefighter health and safety.

Today we’re taking time to inspect, wash, and properly dry our gear so we’re ready for the next call. Clean gear isn’t just about appearance — it’s about reducing exposure to harmful carcinogens and staying mission ready for our community.

✅ Inspect your gear
✅ Wash according to department guidelines
✅ Allow proper drying time
✅ Stay safe and healthy

Thank you to all firefighters who put in the work both on and off the fireground. Stay safe out there! 🔥👨‍🚒

Big turnout, bigger purpose.

This Saturday, volunteer fire departments from across the county came together for hands-on vehicle extrication training — sharpening skills, sharing knowledge, and building stronger teamwork between departments. From door pops and roof removals and tool operations, every scenario was about one thing: being ready when someone’s worst day happens.

It’s more than cutting cars apart — it’s about learning from each other, improving together, and making sure we can serve our communities safely and effectively.

A huge thank you to every firefighter, instructor, department, and volunteer who gave up their Saturday to train. Brotherhood, teamwork, and dedication like this are what make the fire service strong. 🚒🔥Holly Lake Volunteer Fire DepartmentMineola Fire DepartmentWinnsboro Fire Dept.Coke-Pleasant Grove VFDHawkins FIRE DepartmentOgburn Volunteer Fire Dept.
