Red, White & Blue Meet the Creatures! -- July 2, 2:30 pm – 3:15 pm 🎆
QWR is celebrating our nation’s 250th Anniversary by adding a little red, white, and blue to our Meet the Creatures Program! Start your summer break off by meeting the amazing animal ambassadors that call the Refuge home. A fun variety of red, white and blue colored animals will be included in the presentation for you to meet, learn about, and touch. For families and children ages 4 years old and up ). $10 per person. Most importantly, come ready to enjoy great food, music, friends, and a wonderful evening in support of the Refuge.

Annual Family BBQ for 2026 Members 🌿 Thursday, June 18th, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM! Join us as we welcome the summer season with a barbecue alongside Old Ice Pond! We’ll provide the burgers and hot dogs, and we ask that you bring a dish to share with the crowd. Kayaks and canoes will be available to borrow for self-guided paddles, and live music provided by Joy and the Weatherman. Reservations required. Plein Air Painting Class -- June 17, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm 🎨Join us for a guided acrylic painting class with local artist Kenn Beck on the edge of Old Ice Pond. This outdoor, beginner-friendly session will focus on basic plein air techniques while celebrating the vibrant colors of the upcoming summer season. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Refuge, you’ll learn how to capture the essence of the landscape in real time. All painting materials are provided—just bring your painting clothes, a chair if you would like one, and a can-do attitude! $40 per person, please make reservations in advance. Snake Animal Ambassador Story Time - June 13 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am 🐍 Join a Quogue Library storyteller for a special story hour outdoors at the Refuge, including a simple craft and a special visit from one of our ambassador African Ball Pythons. Indigenous Wellness Walk - June 7, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm 🌿 Join us for a restorative wellness hike guided by Chenae Bullock, a knowledgeable and passionate Licensed Indigenopathic Practitioner from the Shinnecock Nation. Rooted in Indigenous teachings and a deep connection to the land, this experience invites participants to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with nature in a meaningful way. Chenae will share insights on mindfulness, plant knowledge, and the importance of honoring our relationship with the natural world. This guided hike is designed to support emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being, offering space for reflection, grounding, and community connection. Each participant will also receive a curated wellness gift to support your journey beyond the hike, offering tools for continued care and reflection. $25 per person.
