Quogue Library The Quogue Library serves our community by providing educational, cultural and recreational resources for life long learning. The books were shelved in Mr. Wm.

Early Years
The initiative of "about twenty ladies" led to the organization of a Library Association in 1896. Each member contributed a dollar and a book. Jessup's general store. The first building was opened on July 23, 1897 with an afternoon reception attended by about 150 people. The plans for the building were the gift of the architect Mr. E. Stone of New York.

1920 - 1999
The library's prope

rty was a generous gift of half an acre of land from Mr. Abram S. Post, Mr. William Post, Mrs. Sarah Post Corwith and Miss Louise Jagger Post. The original building was expanded during the 1920's to accommodate the growing needs of the community, and the growing number of volumes in the collection.

2000 - Present The Library's Board of Trustees undertook a major expansion and renovation of the building, beginning in 1998. Our new building opened in September 2000. Aided by generous financial donations of local residents, the renovation combines modern technology with small town charm. The architect for the project was Jay Sears, and Gentry Construction Inc. were our builders. The Quogue Library has become a source of pride and a symbol of community spirit for the village.

The SCLS Summer Library Tour is back!

Passports are available for pick up at the Service Desk and Children's Room beginning July 1st as well as at our Fourth Annual Family Summer Kick-Off on Friday, July 3rd.

With your free Suffolk Summer Tour booklet, you’ll visit public libraries all around Suffolk County any time from July 1st through August 31st. While you visit, be sure to find that library’s Prehistoric Creature poster & place one corresponding sticker in the provided space. Then, locate their Stamp Station to receive a stamp and a collectable Prehistoric Creature trading card! At 5, 15, and 25 library visits you will be entered into the Tour raffle. At your 25th library you will earn the official title of Summer Tour Library-saurus and receive a special commemorative patch (while supplies last)!
