- August 12th 1950

Engine 4, a 1943 Mack 750 gpm pumper, and Trucks 1 and 2 put on a master stream demonstration for citizens and public officials following a department-wide inspection on August 12th 1950. The display was held in a lot at Sixth and Racine streets.

The final fire class!

Class K fires are caused when cooking oils, greases, or fats reach extremely hot temperatures and ignite.

To prevent class K fires never leave your food unattended when you are cooking, and thoroughly clean your cooking equipment like air-fryers, pots, pans, deep friers, and stovetops.

Almost every fire class completed!

Class D fires are caused when metals like Magnesium, Titanium, or Sodium are exposed to extreme heat or friction. However, these materials are most common in industrial settings like factories and laboratories.

Generally you won’t see these materials often, but if you do, make sure to clean metal shavings/waste and keep these metals away from ignition sources to prevent class D fires.
