Earlier this month The RFD graciously accepted another donation of stuffed toys from Pentecost Lutheran Church - Racine, WI. These toys were collected at their summer block party and will be use to comfort kids that unfortunately find themselves in a rescue squad. Thank you for helping the community !!

BLOCK PARTY -- STUFFED ANIMALS DELIVERED -- Thank you to all who donated a new stuffed animal during this summer's Block Party. Pig, Moose and Kola, this year's Block Party Mascots, were dropped off -- with approximately 27 of their friends -- at the Racine Fire Department station downtown this weekend. The animals will be used as "comfort animals" by Racine Fire and Rescue personnel when times get tough for those affected by unfortunate events. Prayers are always good....but sometimes it does not hurt to have a furry friend as well. THANK YOU again, to everybody who donated!

Our Hazardous Materials Response Team (HAZMAT) conducted a training last week to maintain the skills necessary to respond to incidents involving the release of hazardous substances.

We conduct these training exercises to ensure a quick and effective response to any hazardous materials emergency!

IMPORTANT Party on the Pavement UPDATE
After closely monitoring today’s forecast, we have made the extremely difficult decision to cancel today’s Party on the Pavement.

We were prepared to move forward rain or shine, but with the threat of thunderstorms, lightning, and flooding, the safety of our attendees, vendors, entertainers and staff must come first.

**All Party on the Pavement vendors will receive a full refund of their vendor fees.

Unfortunately, an event of this size cannot simply be moved to another day due to street closure requirements, public safety coordination, entertainment and production that are scheduled months in advance.

We are incredibly disappointed, but we know this is the responsible decision. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of Downtown Racine.

This week the Racine Fire Department picked 4 large bags filled with stuffed animals from the amazing group of volunteers that work out of Sew 'n Save of Racine on Durand Ave.

It is quite an assembly line of skilled volunteers that make stuffed animals for us to use on the ambulances when a child has to be transported. A ride in an ambulance isn't fun for anyone, but it can be especially scary for kids. These stuffed animals do an amazing job of comforting kids when they are being cared for in an ambulance.

Thank you volunteers for all of your hard work !!!
