Racine County is located on the shores of Lake Michigan in southeastern Wisconsin, approximately 30 miles south of Milwaukee and 60 miles north of Chicago. The County is basically shaped like a rectangle that is 12 miles high and 30 miles wide, with the addition of a southern extension of almost 3 miles along the westernmost 6 miles of land. The County contains two cities, seven villages and nine

towns. Interstate Highway 94 links Racine County with Milwaukee, Madison and Minneapolis to the West and Chicago and Detroit to the East.

In addition to FEMA Individual Assistance, disaster loan options may be available through the U.S. Small Business Administration for eligible homeowners, renters, businesses and nonprofits affected by the April severe storms and flooding.
SBA disaster loans are separate from FEMA assistance and may help cover disaster-related losses not fully covered by insurance or other sources.

For SBA disaster loans, you do not have to wait for your insurance claim to be finalized before applying.

SBA disaster loans may help eligible homeowners, renters, businesses and private nonprofit organizations repair or replace disaster-damaged property.
This is separate from FEMA Individual Assistance. Residents applying for FEMA assistance should continue to follow FEMA’s guidance.

Update 8/31: Quarry Lake is officially open to swimmers again. Thanks for your patience!

We hate to be a summer bummer, but Quarry Lake will be closed to swimmers starting today, 8/24/26, until possible blue-green algae clears up. We will post an update when the water is reopened. Quarry Lake Park and the Karen A. Nelson Dog Park are still operating as normal.
