NORTH BEACH AND ZOO BEACH: OPEN
Updated Saturday, June 13, 9:35 a.m.
Beach Status
Both beaches have reopened. North Beach and Zoo Beach were under a swim advisory this morning following elevated f***l bacteria levels detected by qPCR sampling yesterday. A resample collected Friday afternoon confirmed water quality has returned to within safe swimming standards at both beaches. Lifeguard staff report wave and current activity is low.
Beach Conditions
Water is cold at 58F under mostly sunny skies, with a high near 85F expected this afternoon. Even strong swimmers should limit time in the water. Waves are calm at 0.1 ft. Water is clear at both beaches. Winds are out of the southwest around 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
Know Before You Go
Water is cold today and cold water shock is a real risk. Free loaner life jackets at both beaches: just grab one and bring it back when you are done. No paperwork, no deposit.
UV index is Very High: apply sunscreen before heading out, seek shade at midday, and reapply after swimming.
Lifeguards on duty at both beaches 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.: swim in the lifeguarded area. Stay away from the North Pier at all times: powerful underwater currents form near the pier walls and can pull swimmers offshore without warning. Wash your hands and shower after swimming or playing in the sand. Do not swim if you have or recently had diarrhea.
