We provide fire and rescue services to Letart, Lebanon, and Sutton Townships.

Meigs County Station #2, Racine Fire Department, is situated next to the Racine Municipal Building. The department consists of three Engines, one all purpose/personnel truck, one brush truck, and a 6X6 Polaris Ranger utility vehicle in a firefighting configuration, one river rescue boat, and one pond/lake rescue skiff.

🟣🟡🌪️Fire Prevention Day at Southern Elementary! 🌪️🟡🟣

Today, our firefighters visited with students from Head Start through 3rd grade to talk about this year’s theme: “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower.” We also showed them a drone that had been burned by a damaged lithium-ion battery which was a powerful reminder that battery safety matters.

Thanks to Southern Elementary for welcoming us and helping us teach our young neighbors how to stay safe! 🔋🔥

Yesterday marked the first day of the fall burn ban 🍁🍂

Between October 1st and November 30th there we ask that everyone be mindful of the ban and avoid open burning between the hours of 6am and 6pm. As a reminder, please follow all burning laws after 6pm.

⚠️ TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN! ⚠️

Heavy rainfall is impacting Racine and surrounding areas of Meigs County tonight, and Flash Flood Warnings are in effect across the county.

🌧️ Please use extreme caution if you must travel.

• NEVER attempt to drive through a flooded roadway.
• Do not assume you know how deep the water is — roads can wash away beneath the surface.
• If you encounter water covering the roadway, TURN AROUND. Find another route.
• Be especially cautious after dark. Flooded roads and washed-out areas can be extremely difficult to see at night.
• Never drive around barricades or road-closed signs.

🚒 Please do not put yourself, your passengers, or first responders at unnecessary risk.

TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.
A few extra minutes finding another route could save your life.

The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office is advising motorists to avoid the following areas due to high water and hazardous road conditions.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURES / HIGH WATER:

* Powell Street at Short Leading Creek in Middleport
* Lower SR 7 near the Gallia County line
* Story’s Run Road
* Pullins Hill
* Mulberry Avenue
* Butternut Avenue
* Roy Jones Road
* Rice Run
* Eagle Ridge
* Success Road
* 681 (Reedsville side)

Please do not drive through high water. Water can be deeper and moving faster than it appears, and road conditions may change quickly.

If there is an area you regularly travel that is known to flood, use extreme caution and expect that it may currently be flooded.

Please avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas and turn around.

Stay safe and use good judgment.

Today, we remember the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the sacrifices that must never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

Twenty-five years ago, on September 11, 2001, 343 firefighters answered their final alarm. 2,977 lives were lost, and countless others were forever changed.

A quarter-century later, their courage and sacrifice remain etched into the heart of the fire service.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

The Ravenswood Volunteer Fire Department invites our brothers and sisters from across the first responder community, along with Wayne's family, friends, and the entire Ravenswood community, to join us as we honor the life and legacy of Assistant Chief Wayne Abel.

We will gather for a Celebration of Life and Final Call honoring a man who dedicated more than 50 years of his life to serving others through the Ravenswood Volunteer Fire Department.

We want to extend a special invitation to:

We want as many first responders as possible to stand together for Wayne.

For more than five decades, Wayne answered the call for this community. He served alongside generations of firefighters, mentored countless members, helped shape our department, and dedicated himself to helping others.

Now, we have the opportunity to come together and honor him.

We know this is short notice, and we understand that not everyone will be able to attend. But if you are able, we would be honored to have you there.

Bring your apparatus. Wear your uniform. Bring your family. Bring a friend.

Come stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the people Wayne served alongside and the community he spent more than half a century protecting.

This isn't just a Final Call for the Ravenswood Volunteer Fire Department.

This is a Final Call for a man who dedicated his life to the fire service and to his community.

Let's fill the station and the streets with the people Wayne spent his life serving.

Let's give him the send-off he deserves.

Wayne spent more than 50 years answering the call.
Now it's our turn to answer the call for him.

Rest easy, Wayne.
