It has come to our attention that an individual is attempting to solicit money/ falsify sales from members of the public on Facebook while using the name and likeness of our fallen brother, Engineer Ian Wise.

We were notified of someone operating as “Michael Communications” using the name and images of Ian, to promote distribution and sale of supposed “donated” Motorola radios in his honor.

To be clear:
• Our department has NO affiliation with this page or these “donations.”
• We never authorized the use of Ian’s name or photos for fundraising or sales.

We also observed several major red flags, including:
• False information about Ian’s death
• Changing stories and identities
• Requests for wire transfers
• Refusal to use secure payment methods
• Requests for Friends & Family payments only

If you see this page or similar posts:
• DO NOT send money
• DO NOT wire funds
• REPORT the page immediately

Using the memory of a deceased firefighter to manipulate people for financial gain is beyond disrespectful. It is disgraceful to his family, his friends, and every person who served alongside him. Ian dedicated his life to serving others with honor and integrity. Exploiting his memory for personal profit is unacceptable and we will not tolerate it.

We appreciate the continued support our community has shown to Ian’s family and to our department. Please help us protect his memory from those attempting to abuse it.

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, we ask everyone to take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who gave everything in defense of our nation.

The members of the Racine Volunteer Fire Department stand ready to serve our community with courage, dedication, and pride. From emergency response to training and community involvement, our firefighters are committed to protecting and supporting those around us.

Today, we honor not only our own members, but firefighters across the world who answer the call, day or night, putting others before themselves.

Thank you to our community for your continued support. It is an honor to serve you.

🟣🟡CAREER DAY🟡🟣

Today, members of the Department attended Southern Local Schools Career Day, speaking with students in grades 7–12 about the fire service as a career path.

We shared what it’s like to serve as firefighters, paramedics (and were able to speak a little about our full time careers) answered questions, and gave a real look into the dedication, teamwork, and purpose behind the job.

We were impressed by the students’ interest and thoughtful questions, there’s a strong future ahead!

Thank you to Southern Local Schools for the opportunity to connect with the next generation.

We are saddened to share the passing of former Racine Fire Department firefighter Doug Rees, Unit 211 on March 17, 2026.

Doug joined the department in 1976 and dedicated numerous years of service to protecting and serving the Racine community. His commitment, courage, and willingness to answer the call made a lasting impact on both the department and those he served.

We extend our deepest condolences to Doug’s family, friends, and all who had the honor of serving alongside him. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Doug. We will take it from here.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine with his nephew Jay Rees officiating. Friends may call from 11:00a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family.

🟣🟡🔥SPRING BURN BAN🔥🟡🟣

The State of Ohio’s Spring Burn Ban is in effect March 1st – May 31st. During this time, open burning is prohibited between 6 AM and 6 PM due to increased wildfire risk caused by dry conditions, high winds, and rising temperatures.

‼️What This Means for You:

❌ No open burning of yard waste, trash, or debris during the restricted hours. This includes leaves, brush, and other natural materials.
🔥Campfires, cooking fires, and outdoor grills are permitted, but they must be contained and properly attended at all times.
🧯Fires must be fully extinguished before being left unattended. Even small embers can spread quickly.
📖Check local regulations, as some areas may have stricter burn ordinances.

❓Why is this important?
Each year, wildfires destroy thousands of acres in Ohio, putting lives, property, and natural resources at risk. Many of these fires are caused by careless burning. By following the burn ban rules, you help protect our community from dangerous wildfires and unnecessary emergency responses.

Penalties for Violating the Burn Ban:
Failure to comply with Ohio’s burn regulations may result in fines and legal consequences. The Ohio Division of Forestry and local fire departments enforce these rules to keep everyone safe.
