Racine Fire Department We provide fire and rescue services to Letart, Lebanon, and Sutton Townships.

Meigs County Station #2, Racine Fire Department, is situated next to the Racine Municipal Building. The department consists of three Engines, one all purpose/personnel truck, one brush truck, and a 6X6 Polaris Ranger utility vehicle in a firefighting configuration, one river rescue boat, and one pond/lake rescue skiff.

Because of this incredible community, our “Keep the Show Alive” Fireworks Fundraiser goal has officially been met!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to every person who donated, shared our posts, spread the word, and supported our mission. Your generosity ensures that we can continue bringing this tradition to our community.

This year’s fundraiser showed us just how much this event means to all of you. Your support reminds us that when a community comes together, amazing things happen.

The Racine Volunteer Fire Department doesn’t just host the fireworks…we’re the volunteers who plan, set up, and safely shoot the entire display. Rising costs and fewer volunteers have put this tradition at risk.

If you’ve ever enjoyed our fireworks show, please consider supporting this fundraiser or sharing this post. Every donation, no matter the size, helps keep this tradition alive!

Our goal is to raise $8,000, which is the cost of the show. We are currently over halfway to our goal!

Local 740 will be accepting donations for the fireworks fund on July 4th starting at 6pm. Swing in to see the new business and grab a free lemonade! 🍋

We’re proud to put on the fireworks show for our community every year.

What some people don’t realize is that we’re the ones out there setting up, firing the show, handling safety operations, and cleaning up long after the last shell goes off.

Unfortunately, the cost of fireworks has skyrocketed.

Between rising transportation costs, tariffs, supply chain issues, and increasing material prices, the cost to put on the same show we’ve provided for years has gone up dramatically.

The hard truth is this:
Without more support, this may be the last year for our fireworks display.

We don’t want that to happen. This event means a lot to our department and to the community. It’s one of the few nights every year where everyone comes together, looks up at the sky, and forgets about life for a little while.

But traditions like this survive because communities support them.

If you enjoy the fireworks show, please consider supporting the fundraiser, attending events, sponsoring, volunteering, or simply sharing this post.

It has come to our attention that an individual is attempting to solicit money/ falsify sales from members of the public on Facebook while using the name and likeness of our fallen brother, Engineer Ian Wise.

We were notified of someone operating as “Michael Communications” using the name and images of Ian, to promote distribution and sale of supposed “donated” Motorola radios in his honor.

To be clear:
• Our department has NO affiliation with this page or these “donations.”
• We never authorized the use of Ian’s name or photos for fundraising or sales.

We also observed several major red flags, including:
• False information about Ian’s death
• Changing stories and identities
• Requests for wire transfers
• Refusal to use secure payment methods
• Requests for Friends & Family payments only

If you see this page or similar posts:
• DO NOT send money
• DO NOT wire funds
• REPORT the page immediately

Using the memory of a deceased firefighter to manipulate people for financial gain is beyond disrespectful. It is disgraceful to his family, his friends, and every person who served alongside him. Ian dedicated his life to serving others with honor and integrity. Exploiting his memory for personal profit is unacceptable and we will not tolerate it.

We appreciate the continued support our community has shown to Ian’s family and to our department. Please help us protect his memory from those attempting to abuse it.
