City of Racine Black History Month • Bill Bowers

Bill Bowers made history as Racine’s first Black City Assessor in 2014 and later as Director of City Development in 2020. Prior to joining the City of Racine, he held leadership roles with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue and Milwaukee’s Department of City Development.

With expertise in public finance and urban development, Bowers played a key role in shaping Racine’s growth strategy, focusing on equitable development and long-term opportunity for residents. His leadership reflected a commitment to thoughtful planning and community-centered progress.

Throughout Black History Month, the City of Racine is highlighting individuals whose lives and work helped move our community forward. More stories to come.

It's and today's video shows townhome building 1 with roof trusses, building 2 with exterior siding, buildings 4 with first floor walls, building 5 with footings and foundation, and the foundation to building 8 in the ground. The other three buildings will begin shorlty once underground work is complete. These units will be for sale to owner occupants in the coming months.

The townhomes flank a rapidly progressing community center and federally qualified health clinic that is coming into form. We hope everyone has enjoyed the unseasonably warm weather that made this February flight possible.
