Great weekend of training with Professional Rescue Inovations, Rescue Skills weekend at the Central Iowa Expo in Boone! We participated in the trench rescue class learning some advanced skills with the opertunity to demo the latest and greatest state of the art equipment. Thank you to all the PRI instructors and equipment dealers for putting on some great classes.

Today at 12:30 pm the RFD responded with nine firefighters to Newago St in Radcliffe for a garage fire. We were able to contain the fire to the garage and it's contents with light smoke throughout the house. After ventilating the house the residents were able to return to their home.

Last night at the Iowa Firefighters Association Mid-Year Banquet the Radcliffe Firefighters were awarded the IFA's 2026 Jack Runge Fire Dept of the Year. We were nominated by our friends to the east, the Hubbard fire dept for our great working relationship as a mutual aid dept and for our commitment to the IFA and the 2025 IFA Convetion. It's truly an honor to recieve this award especially in honor of our mentor and friend Jack Runge.

🔥 Last night we held our annual RFD Appreciation Supper with current & retired Fire and EMT members. Along with their spouses and special law enforcement guests in attendance.

Awards this year went to Ben Krause, Dan Reisetter and Dan Nepple.
Ben Krause - 15 years
Dan Reisetter - 20 years, IFA Past President Aaron Clemons presented Dan with an IFA 20 year certificate as well.

RFD Retired Firefighter / Asst Chief Don Hudgins passed away peacefully at his home on December 11, 2025. A Memorial Service and Firefighters Final call will be held this Saturday, January 17, 2026 2:00PM at the Radcliffe American Legion followed by fellowship until 4:00. Don served on the Radcliffe Fire Dept from 1965 to 1992.

The last couple months the RFD had the opportunity to train in an acquired house scheduled to be burned. This gave our crews a place to practice up their search and rescue, hose handling and water flows skills. Also gave our pump operators some cold weather training with the temps in the single digits. Today we finished it off as we demolished the house with fire. During this burn or crews were able to show some of our younger guys fire behavior, how to read the smoke, nozzle work, master streams, pump ops and water supply operations. Thank you to the owner Meshell Janes for allowing us to use their house for our training.
