Oliver is a Saint Francis Facility Dog who was placed with us at Radford Public Library (RPL) through Saint Francis Service Dogs (SFSD). He graduated in 2023 with SFSD and was placed with us shortly thereafter. Expertly trained Saint Francis Facility Dogs are placed in a variety of healthcare, special education, or courtroom settings, and Oliver was the first to be placed in a public library. He eases stress, encourages social interactions, provides comfort, and supports literacy goals. Thanks to Lamplighters for helping cover associated costs (food, preventive care) and many thanks to Saint Francis Service Dogs for placing him with us! We were awarded the Outstanding Service Innovation Award for Oliver in 2024 by the Virginia Public Library Directors' Association!
