The Radford City Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for full time Deputy Sheriff position(s).

The Radford City Sheriff's Office handles Court Security, Civil Process, and Inmate Transportation. We also have a Crisis Intervention Team that assists people experiencing a mental health crisis. This Crisis Intervention Team works in a partnership with New River Valley Community Services (NRVCS).
Candidates must meet the requirements stated in VA Code §15.2-1705, be a U.S. Citizen, 18 years of age and a high school graduate or possess a GED certificate. Candidates must have a valid Virginia driver’s license or obtain one within thirty days of appointment. Candidates are required to undergo a background investigation, including fingerprint-based criminal history records inquiries to both the Central Criminal Records Exchange and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.
All Candidates must be of good health and physical condition, and pass a physical examination subsequent to offer of employment, conducted under the supervision of a licensed physician.
Preference will be given to individuals that currently hold a DCJS jailor/civil process service/courtroom security certification, a law enforcement certification and/or certification as a CIT officer.
These are full time position(s) that requires the deputy to work rotating day/night shifts. The starting salary is $47,721 plus benefits. The pay increases to $49,897.08 after the successful completion of a one-year probationary period. Deputies will receive the City of Radford benefits package that includes VRS-LEOS retirement and health insurance.
