Please keep their families, fellow deputies, and loved ones in your thoughts during this difficult time. We honor the fallen deputy’s service and sacrifice and wish the injured deputy a full recovery.

The Radford City Fire/EMS is planning a prescribed burn on Tuesday morning, April 7 starting around 10:00am at the following location. The burn will take place on the island just downstream from the 105 interstate bridge. Please be aware there may be smoke in the area for most of the day and into the evening.

SCAM ALERT-Recent reports indicate that citizens have received phone calls, text messages, and emails from individuals falsely claiming to be Sheriff’s deputies. The caller states that the recipient has missed jury duty and must pay a fine immediately.

These scammers often use the names of real deputies and demand payment in cash, gift cards, prepaid cards, or cryptocurrency. They may threaten immediate arrest if payment is not made right away.

Please remember: The Radford City Sheriff's Office, the Radford City Police Department and other legitimate law enforcement do not call to demand payment.

If you receive this type of call, hang up immediately. If you have questions or concerns, contact your local law enforcement agency directly using a verified phone number

We have received a report of a phone scam targeting local residents. The caller claimed that a family member had been arrested following a minor accident and was being held at a police station. The caller then provided a phone number for a supposed attorney and urged immediate contact.

⚠️ This is a scam.

Scammers often use fear and urgency to pressure victims into acting quickly. They may pretend to be law enforcement, attorneys, or other officials.

✅ Do NOT provide personal or financial information
✅ Do NOT send money or make payments
✅ Hang up and verify the situation by contacting your family member directly

If you receive a suspicious call like this, please report it to your local law enforcement agency.

🚨 SCAM ALERT: Medicare Phone Scam 🚨

We recently received a report from a concerned citizen about a Medicare-related scam call.

The caller claimed to be associated with Medicare, addressed the individual by name, and asked if she had received her Medicare card. Fortunately, she recognized this as a scam. Medicare does NOT call you to ask about your card or personal information.

This type of scam often targets elderly individuals, so please help spread the word to friends, family, and neighbors who may be more vulnerable.

-Medicare will not call you unsolicited
-Never give out personal or financial information over the phone
-If something feels off, hang up
