Most people know Dolly Parton for the rhinestones, the music, and a whole lot of big hair.

Around here, we also know her as one of our favorite literacy heroes!

In 1995, Dolly started the Imagination Library in her home county in Tennessee. Her inspiration was deeply personal: her father couldn't read or write, and she wanted children growing up in her community to have opportunities he never had.

What started in one small corner of Tennessee grew into something extraordinary.

Today, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library sends free, age-appropriate books directly to children from birth to age five. This helps families build home libraries before their children ever walk into a kindergarten classroom.

And maybe our favorite part?

There is no income requirement.

Because access to books shouldn't be something a child has to qualify for.

That's a belief we hold pretty tightly at Karina's Little Library, too.

A child doesn't need to prove they need a book.

They don't need money.
They don't need to bring another book back.

If there's a book waiting on our shelves that makes their eyes light up, it's theirs.

We may be a very little library, but we're incredibly proud to be part of a much bigger idea:

Put books in children's hands.
Let them keep them.
And see where those stories take them.

Here's to Dolly and to everyone doing their little part to raise a generation of readers!

📚✨ FREE BOOKS THIS SATURDAY! ✨📚

Karina’s Little Library is popping up for another Little Free Book Fair this Saturday from 11 AM–2 PM! 💛

Come by, browse the tables, and take home some new-to-you books — completely free. No registration, no purchase, no catch. Just books looking for their next reader. 📖

We’ll have books for kids, teens, and adults, and everyone is welcome to come find something that speaks to them.

One of our favorite things about these little book fairs is watching books leave our tables tucked under arms and knowing they’re heading home to be loved all over again. That’s exactly what Karina’s Little Library is about: making books accessible, building community, and sharing a little joy through reading. 💛

📅 This Saturday
⏰ 11 AM–2 PM

Bring a friend, bring the kids, and come find your next read. We can’t wait to see you!

Hi friends. 💛

I wanted to take a minute to say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has borrowed books, left books, shared our posts, stopped by to say hello, or simply supported Karina's Little Library over the last few years. This little library exists because of all of you, and I am so grateful.

I also want to thank everyone for giving us a little grace while we work through some much-needed renovations. If I'm being honest, it's just felt a little harder to get out there lately. With Karina's birthday coming up on August 17th, this time of year always brings a lot of emotions. Some days are easier than others, but I know making this little library beautiful is one of the best ways I can continue honoring her.

We've already made a little progress! I replaced the window glass this week, and it looks absolutely fabulous. Next up is repainting the exterior. I've even been tossing around the idea of painting a mural on the sides and back of the library... but I haven't quite decided yet (and honestly dont know if I even have that much artistic skill lol).

The renovation list keeps growing:
📚 Repaint the exterior
🌿 Replace the weeping cherry tree we planted last year (it unfortunately didn't make it)
🌸 Add new landscaping around the library
🚪 Possibly replace the doors
🌧️ Install a small piece above the doors to help keep the rain out

Speaking of landscaping... I need your help! I absolutely love plants, but landscape design is not my strong suit. If anyone has ideas, inspiration photos, or recommendations for what would look beautiful around the library, I'd love to see them in the comments!

While we're giving the library a little facelift, there are still plenty of ways to support our mission. Our School Supply Drive is underway, and every donated notebook, pencil, folder, and backpack helps local students start the school year with confidence.

🖍️ You can drop off new school supplies at Yeleedos Café , one of our wonderful community partners.

And don't forget! We'll be hosting another Little Free Book Fair at Yeleedos Cafe on August 15th, where we'll celebrate books, community, and Karina's birthday by giving away free books while collecting school supplies for Hoke County students.

Thank you all for loving this little library as much as I do. Every book shared, every donation, and every kind word helps keep Karina's legacy alive, and I couldn't do it without this incredible community. ❤️

Karina's Little Library is honored to partner with Yeleedos Cafe for a special event filled with free books for the community while collecting school supplies for Hoke County students as they prepare for the new school year.

Want to help but can't make it? We will be setting up a supply drop box at Yeleedos Cafe and we have created an Amazon Wishlist where you can purchase supplies that will be donated directly to Hoke County Schools. The items labeled "Most Wanted" are the supplies our local students and teachers need most right now.

This event is especially meaningful to us as we remember Karina, whose love continues to inspire acts of kindness, literacy, and community. Thank you for helping us honor her memory by making a difference for local children.

📖 Come pick out a free book.
🎒 Donate school supplies.
☕ Grab a coffee from Yeleedos.

Hi friends!

If you’re new here—or have been following along for a while—you might have wondered…
“Are you Karina?”

So I wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself, my family, and the heart behind Karina’s Little Library.

My name is Amber, and I’m the one behind this page and the day-to-day of the library. This work is deeply personal to me, it’s rooted in both love for this community and love for someone very special.

My spouse, Reece, is my steady support behind the scenes. He’s currently in Physical Therapy school, and while you may spy him working on his laptop at our events, he’s a big part of making all of this possible.

And then there’s Karina 💕
Karina is my niece and the reason this exists at all.

In 2022, we lost her at just 2 years old.

There are no words big enough to explain that kind of loss.

She was light. She was joy. She was curiosity and laughter and so much love in such a small, beautiful life.

She deserved more time. More stories. More everything.

One of our favorite activities to do together was to read and so, Karina’s Little Library was created in her memory.

Not just as a tribute, but as a promise.

A promise that her name would continue to be spoken and a promise that her life would continue to matter in a real, tangible way.

A promise that other children would have access to books, to imagination, to the kind of opportunities every child deserves.

Every book placed in a child’s hands…
Every family who stops by…
Every moment of connection this space creates...
To me, that’s her impact.

So no, I’m not Karina
But everything we do here started with her.

Thank you for being here, for holding space for her story, and for helping us turn something so heartbreaking into something that continues to give love back to this community 💕

If you've stopped by the book fair, you may have noticed that we DEFINITELY need more heavy-duty bookends!

Any recommendations for something sturdy and affordable?

Or should I ditch the tables and look into getting some rolling carts?

Let me know your thoughts!
