Women Veterans Recognition Day 🇺🇸

At its June 9, 2026, meeting, the Hoke County Board of Commissioners proudly proclaimed June 12, 2026, as Women Veterans Recognition Day in Hoke County.

Today, we honor and recognize the women who have served in the United States Armed Forces and celebrate their courage, sacrifice, and dedication to our nation. June 12 marks the anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act of 1948, which granted women permanent status in the U.S. military.

Hoke County extends its sincere gratitude to all women veterans for their service and the countless contributions they have made to our communities, our state, and our country.

Please join us in recognizing and thanking the women veterans of Hoke County and beyond for their commitment, leadership, and sacrifice.

The Hoke County Commissioners recognized our Sandy Grove Middle School and Hoke County High School student-athletes for an outstanding year of achievement. Students were honored for winning conference championship titles across multiple sports, with several teams and individual athletes advancing to playoff competition. Their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship continue to make our community proud.

The Memorial Day Program this morning honored the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

The rain held off just long enough for the community to gather together in remembrance and reflection for this meaningful ceremony.

Memorial Day serves as an important reminder of the sacrifices made by our fallen heroes and the debt of gratitude we owe them and their families. 🇺🇸

This past Saturday, our “Dancing Through the Decades” Senior Prom was filled with music, laughter, friendship, and unforgettable memories! From the classic hits to some of our favorite dance tunes through the years, everyone enjoyed a wonderful evening celebrating together. 💃🕺

Utility Service Interruption Notification

Date: Thursday, May 14th, 2026

Location: Gillis Hill Rd. Area, Hoke County, North Carolina

Dear Customer,

We are posting this notification to inform you of a temporary interruption to your water utility services due to the Department of Transportation (DOT) Gillis Hill Road Widening Project. The DOT will be reestablishing water service in this location. Your understanding and patience are greatly appreciated as we work to improve our infrastructure.

Details of the Interruption:

 Type of Utility: Water Services
 Expected Duration: 4 - 6 hours
 Reason for Interruption: Installation of new water line material to the Water System Service Line due to Gillis Hill Road widening project.
 Location: Homes, Subdivisions, and Businesses located along the Gillis Hill Rd. Area, East of Lindsey Road and West of the Hoke – Cumberland County Line. Also affected will be the Homes along Steeple Run Drive.

Hoke County Utilities will be actively monitoring progress as this process moves forward and providing updates when issued by DOT. We are working in conjunction with DOT to minimize the impact of this interruption. Notification will be given via county website, face book page, and door hangars.

Let’s carry this forward beyond April—by showing patience, promoting accessibility, and standing up for a more inclusive world.

Awareness fades if we let it, but acceptance grows when we choose it!

Hoke County Utilities: Water has been restored.

Hoke County Utilities: A main break occurred in the Arabia Road/Golf Course Road area. Crews have been dispatched to restore water service as quickly and as safely as possible. It is difficult to estimate when service can be restored, however because we may need to address unforeseen issues and need to make system adjustments before restoring service.

⚡️ Hoke County Honors Our Linemen ⚡️

On Monday, March 23, 2026, the Hoke County Board of Commissioners approved a proclamation recognizing April 18, 2026, as Lineman Appreciation Day in Hoke County.

Lineman and linewomen play a vital role in keeping our community powered, safe, and connected. Whether responding during severe weather or maintaining everyday service, their work often happens behind the scenes but its impact is felt by us all.

Their commitment, long hours, and dedication to public service do not go unnoticed.

We encourage all residents to join us in recognizing and thanking these hardworking individuals for everything they do for Hoke County.
