Sharon Johnson will be teaching a watercolor class on Monday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is a $20 instructor fee to take the class. All supplies will be provided for free. CRAFTS & LEGOS HOUR AT THE RAINELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Have fun this summer at the Rainelle Public Library on Tuesdays July 22, July 29, and August 5 at 2 p.m. You will get to choose a craft to work on or LEGOS to build. Please join us for Legos, crafts, and refreshments!

If you’re looking for a good book to read, check out our book sale. Hardbacks, DVD’s, and CD’s are a dollar each. Paperbacks sell for 50¢ each. The sale will be held during normal library hours.

1. GREENBRIER COUNTY, W.Va. (WVVA) - The Greenbrier County Health Department have received notice that a bat from Rainelle has tested positive for rabies according to a Facebook post.
2. The Greenbrier County Health Department issued a public notice on Monday warning citizens that a raccoon with rabies was found in the county zip code area of 24931.
3. GREENBRIER COUNTY, W.Va. (WVVA) - UPDATE: A second raccoon with rabies was reported by the Greenbrier County Health Department on Tuesday.
The raccoon was located within five to seven miles from the first raccoon found.
The department advises that residents take precautions. They suggest avoiding all contact with wildlife. Bats and raccoons are the most common carriers.
Any animal bite should immediately be washed with soap and water and reported to your primary health care provider or the health department.
The department also warned that a neighboring county of Greenbrier has also had a positive case.
The Health Department reminds the public to vaccinate pets and to contact a doctor, veterinarian, or health department if you encounter wild animals.

Children from 1st grade to 6th grade are invited to the Rainelle Public Library’s activities program on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. The program will be from July 18 to August 8. Learn how to use Microsoft Word and an online audio recorder while sharing stories about your town and local history.

Sign up for a timeslot Friday, May 19 at the Rainelle Public Library.

Participants will be compensated $5 for each story recorded or edited.
