Calling all Fire Departments and Parade Participants!

Our 3rd Annual East Rainelle Fireman's Muster 2026 will be held Labor Day September 7th. The day kicks off with the Rainelle Labor Day Parade at 12PM. Following we will host firemen’s field events featuring our hose carts at Rainelle City Park beginning at approximately 1:30PM. 🇺🇸

We will also have a bounce house and activities for the kids at the park after the parade. Our Firemenettes will be selling concessions from the baseball field stand 🇺🇸

Come out and enjoy your Labor Day in Rainelle!

Good evening Rainelle 🚨 ,

Our command post has shut down for the night and no severe threats are present to the community at this time. While water may be high in several places in our response area the streams and creeks are starting to slowly crest.

Sewell Creek at Rainelle is 14.11’ which is considered minor flood stage. At this point it affects homes in the Lilly park area near Railroad Ave. Crews checked on those homes tonight and everyone is okay with no major threat of water reaching the inside of their homes. All are monitoring throughout the night.

Meadow River at Hines is 8.24’ which hasn’t reached the action stage of 12’.

Water levels will remain high going into your work day Wednesday. Please use caution while traveling and never drive through a flooded roadway. We expect them to crest into the morning and start to recede.

Currently all major roadways are passable in the area.

We would like to thank everyone from our department who has worked tirelessly the past few weeks during these storms. Crews responded to numerous tree and power line calls as well as several high water checks today. Many started the day at 0600 and the remainder come straight from their day job to man teams and prep equipment. We appreciate everyone. Each member plays a key role in how we respond and manage these types of situations for the community.

Please remember we prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Nothing that is done is meant to cause panic. If we’re not proactive we’re not doing our duty to the community.

Since 2016 we have plans in place and benchmarks that help us make decisions on what steps we should take if we receive a large rain event and believe flooding is imminent.

At this time no major flooding is expected but we must still remain cautious due to elevated water levels. Minor flooding to flood prone, and low lying areas has occurred today.

Rainelle VFD will have crews on station monitoring the next impending storm that is being predicted and will be out monitoring water levels as well.

Please remember as we head into this next weather forecast to stay weather aware. Charge your phones now. Make sure you have a flashlight handy. And be sure to have an FM radio nearby if you have one. Keep check on your friends and neighbors.

🚨Please stay off the roads to allow responders easy access to roads and residences if needed. 🚨

Sewell Creek in Rainelle is currently at 12.5’
Meadow River at Hines is currently 7.74’

Both have started to crest but are running extremely high. The timing and duration of the storm will determine what issues we see moving into the evening.

🚨 Flooding Update 0900 8/3/2026 🚨

Rainelle VFD operated yesterday from 1900 until 0700 this morning responding to various calls
for service. We would like to sincerely thank any department or agency that assisted us throughout this weather event.

Crews monitored water levels, cleared down trees, checked on various neighborhoods, and worked tirelessly throughout the night.

Our Firemenettes provided meals to the crews. We appreciate their help on such a short notice.

Water levels at Sewell Creek, Boggs Creek, Wolfpen Creek, and the Meadow River have crested and are now receding. High water may still be an issue in low and poor drainage areas.

Roadways have re-opened but please use caution while driving through the area.
