UPDATE: The race starts at 8:00 am but there will be people on the route setting up earlier than that. Sorry for the confusion.

Just a quick reminder tomorrow June 6th is the Rainsville Freedom Run. Both the 5k and 10k will begin and end at the DeKalb County Schools Coliseum. The event will start at approximately 7:00 am and finish around 12:00pm The following streets and intersections will be affected: Scott & Everett, Scott & Garrett, Parker & Garrett, Thompson & Garrett, Thompson & George Wallace, George Wallace & Parker, Chavies & Plainview, Chavies & Everett. There will be officers posted at these intersections. Please stay out of these areas until after the race is completed. If you live in this area feel free to come out and cheer the runners on!! Show them that good Ole Rainsville hospitality!!

I-59S CLOSING AGAIN: About 17 miles of I-59 southbound in northern Etowah and southern DeKalb counties will close Friday, May 15, for repairs to a crossover on an interstate reconstruction project. ALDOT anticipates the repairs taking several hours to complete.

ALDOT will close I-59 southbound between Exit 205 at Collinsville and Exit 188 at Reece City beginning at 7 a.m. for the contractor to make the repairs.

ALDOT will divert southbound traffic at Exit 205 to SR-68 eastbound to US-11 southbound to SR-211 southbound, then back to I-59 at Exit 188.
