To the citizens of Wake County -- Thank you for the opportunity to serve you as one of your district court judges.

Effective 2/1/2022, after 9 years on the bench, I have decided to retire and “go fishing.” I truly appreciate the faith and support you have given in electing me in 2012 and re-electing me in 2016 and 2020.

I love my job, and I will miss working with my fellow judges, the assistant district attorneys, the defense attorneys, and the support staff at the Wake County Courthouse and Justice Centers.

I am not for sure where this ship will sail next, but it is time.

On the first day of candidate filing, Judge Dan Nagle, Wake County District Court Judge, filed to seek re-election in 2020 at the State Board of Elections in Raleigh. A retired law-enforcement officer with Wake County Sheriff's Office and former Assistant District Attorney, Judge Nagle brings a unique perspective to the bench. Judge Nagle said, "I look forward to each and every day on the bench and take pride in my work. Since my election in 2012 and my re-election in
2016 I have continued to make a difference here in Wake County."
