NC Department of Administration

NC Department of Administration Official account of the N.C. Department of Administration, which supports state government through service operations, asset management and advocacy.

Created in 1957, the Department of Administration acts as the business manager for North Carolina state government. Seventeen individuals have served as secretary of the department since its creation. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction, purchasing and contracting for goods and services, managing state vehicles, acquiring and disposing of real property, and

operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. In addition, the department provides Internal Services and Programs. Internal Services include the maintenance of state-owned buildings and grounds and leadership in managing the department's information resources. The department's programs provide advocacy, assistance and services to diverse segments of the state's population that have been traditionally underserved.

Gone but never forgotten, this year marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11, honoring the victims of the terrorist attack, their families, and the heroic sacrifices of first responders. Last week, the Commission on Indian Affairs held its quarterly meeting at the Revolution Mill in Greensboro. Here are some highlights from the gathering:

1. The Commission welcomed representatives of the Catawba Nation to their first official meeting since gaining state recognition. The recognition brings North Carolina’s number of state-recognized tribes to nine, and the Commission is updating its maps and public information to include the Catawba Nation.

2. Commission leadership reported that its funding was sustained in the recently enacted state budget. The budget also included a $435,000 appropriation for the Waccamaw Siouan Tribe.

3. Subcommittees dug into work, discussing vital issues like Indian culture & religion, housing, health, education, child welfare, economic development & employment, and environmental justice & agriculture.

The Commission on Indian Affairs' next meeting will be held on December 4, 2026, at Campbell University.
