🍂🦃 Gratitude & Salute from Global MilCom 🦃🍂

This Thanksgiving, we pause to reflect and give thanks.
To the service-members, military spouses, and parents who are feeding their infants while also serving, supporting, and sacrificing — your strength does not go unnoticed.

At Global MilCom, we know the unique challenges of parenting in uniform: deployments, PCS moves, training cycles, and still trying to build a breastfeeding (or chestfeeding) routine, pumping schedules, storage logistics and finding that lactation-friendly space.

We’re grateful for you.
• For the parents who nourish their babies and their country.
• For the peers, mentors and counselors stepping up in our chapters and online groups.
• For the leaders and policy-makers within military services who are working to ensure lactation spaces, loads of pumped-milk logistics, and the flexibility you need.
• For the families, partners and friends who hold down the fort so the parent in uniform can pump, feed, rest ― and keep everything running.

This year especially, we give thanks for resilience, community, and support. Whether you’re on duty, on leave, separated, deployed, newly parenting, veteran, or in the Reserves — your journey matters. Your goals matter.

💡 If you’re reading this and feeling isolated: you’re not alone. Join one of our chapters (virtually or in-person), connect with a peer, reach out to a lactation counselor trained for military families. We’ve got your six.

From all of us at Global MilCom: Happy Thanksgiving.

With deep respect and thanks,
The Global MilCom Team

🇺🇸 Veterans Day | Honoring Service and Strength 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to honor all who have served — the individuals that wear our nation’s uniform, and the families who stand beside them.

We recognize that service doesn’t end at the uniform. Every day, veteran and active-duty parents continue to serve through the care, dedication, and love they pour into their families — including the commitment to nourish their little ones.

To all our military families — past and present — thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your strength.

💙 Whether you served overseas or on the home front, your courage inspires us.
💛 Whether you breastfed through deployments, duty, or transitions — your perseverance makes a difference.

Today, we honor you.

💜 October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month. 💜

In our community, many parents carry stories of loss—silent, heavy, and often unseen. Today, we pause to honor those babies gone too soon, and the parents who continue to carry them in their hearts.

If you’d like, light a candle tonight at 7pm for the Wave of Light, and join countless families around the world in remembrance. 🕯️

🤍 For anyone in our military lactation community navigating grief, please know you’re not alone. We see you and are here to help.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎗️

Early detection saves lives. Regular breast self-exams, knowing your family history, and scheduling mammograms are all powerful steps in protecting your health.

💡 Did you know? Breast/chestfeeding not only nourishes babies, but it can also lower the risk of breast cancer for parents.

✨ Lactation helps regulate hormones, delays the return of menstrual cycles, and may reduce lifetime exposure to estrogen—factors linked to lowering breast cancer risk.

💙 Whether you breastfeed for weeks, months, or years, every drop makes a difference. Remember, routine breast health awareness and screenings are essential.

💪 Your body is a force of nature. Whether you’re in a military uniform or at home in your leggings, it’s doing incredible things—nourishing life, adapting, and showing strength beyond any physical training.

✨ Every stretch mark tells a story of growth. Every change is a badge of honor. Breast/chestfeeding doesn’t diminish your strength as a service member or parent—it amplifies it.

🍼 Lactation brings real changes to the body—fullness, engorgement, shifting breast size, tenderness, and sometimes asymmetry. Hormonal shifts can affect skin, hair, and how clothes fit. These changes are normal, temporary in many ways, and part of the body’s incredible adaptation to sustain life.

💙 To our military families: your body image struggles are valid, your feelings are normal, and your journey is uniquely yours. Share your story, join a local support group to empower others. Let's celebrate every body that serves and nurtures.

0300 hours: Baby's hungry
0315 hours: Still nursing
0330 hours: Baby wants more
0345 hours: Welcome to cluster feeding!

For our military families, cluster feeding can feel like an endurance mission. Your baby isn't broken, you're not failing, and yes - this is completely normal! Those marathon feeding sessions are your little one's way of building your supply and preparing for growth spurts.

Whether you're active duty pumping between duties or a military spouse navigating solo parenting during deployments, remember: you've got this and we are here for you! Reach out for support, rest when you can, hydrate like it's your job, and trust your body's incredible ability to adapt.

We're in this mission together.
