Our Constitution opens by daring us to form a more perfect Union. It’s an enduring aspiration and a challenge that every generation inherits: to leave our country more just, more free, and better than we found it.

From abolitionists and the labor movement to suffragists, civil rights leaders, and LGBTQ+ advocates — each generation has pushed our country closer to its founding promise. Now, it’s our Union to perfect.

America’s 250th should be a celebration. Instead, folks are determined to dishonor it by glorifying those who took up arms against the United States in defense of slavery.

It’s as disgraceful as it is telling.

A flag featured in the North Carolina exhibit at America’s State Fair on Washington’s National Mall is drawing some unwanted attention.

Thanks to the generosity of the Hagan Family, these two $500 scholarships will be awarded to young people in North Carolina who are pursuing higher education.
