NC Board of Architecture The Board of Architecture was created in 1917 by the General Assembly The purpose of the Board is to protect the health, safety and welfare of the Public.

The North Carolina Board of Architecture has the power and responsibility to administer North Carolina General Statute 83A. The Board consists of seven members: five are licensed architects and two are Public Members who represent the interest of the public at large, all are appointed by the Governor of the State of North Carolina. Architect Members of the Board serve for staggered five-year terms

while Public Members serve at the pleasure of the Governor. No architect member may be appointed more than two full terms. The Board is responsible for the administration and regulation of the professions architecture in North Carolina. The Board reviews applications, administers examinations, licenses qualified applicants, and regulates the professional practice of the licensees throughout the State. The Board investigates alleged violations of provisions of the licensure law.
