Where was Ford last Friday? Here is your answer: the north lobby of Reynolds Coliseum!

One of nine “hallowed spaces” on the NC State campus, it was the largest basketball arena in the southeast when it opened its doors in 1949. Reynolds reopened in the fall of 2016 after underoing a renovation which created the NC State Athletics Walk of Fame & History, among other things: https://youtu.be/U8ZV2jElzBg.

Keep the Hope Virtual Torch Run:

Usually, agencies from across North Carolina would be running the Flame of Hope across North Carolina, where it would end in Raleigh for the opening ceremony for the Special Olympics NC Summer Games. Unfortunately, we’re currently not able to carry out this tradition, but we are determined to be a game-changer and let the athletes know we haven’t forgotten them by doing a virtual run.

I ask you to join in the fun. The way it works is you set a goal that you would like to raise, and for every mile, you run or walk in May, you donate a quarter. Also, after each workout, we ask you to post a picture to social media and tell us how many miles you ran or walked. You can even dedicate a run/walk to someone special in your life.

You are welcome to join the NCSU Police Department Team!

Where was Ford last Friday? Here is your answer: The Wolf Ears!

The Wolf Ears are two structures located in NC State’s Brickyard, in front of D.H. Hill Library. They sit 40 feet apart and are designed so that acoustics can travel from one “ear” to another. Even if you whisper in one “ear,” an individual sitting in the other can hear it loud and clear!

What Governor Cooper’s Stay-at-Home Order Means for NC State

Late this afternoon, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper issued a stay-at-home order for the entire state as part of the effort to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Under the order, educational institutions, including NC State, are identified as Essential Businesses and Operations.

Because of this designation, and due to NC State’s proactive steps to limit on-campus population and services, we do not anticipate the order will further impact our operations. If, as we continue to review the order, we learn that additional changes are necessary for NC State, we will communicate about those as soon as possible.

Keep up with NC State COVID-19 updates and information at www.ncsu.edu/coronavirus.

NC State continues to monitor and respond to the spread of COVID-19.

The University Police Department is a fully sworn and equipped police department serving the university community. NC State University Police Officers have the same powers and responsibilities as your local police and sheriff’s departments. On campus, the University Police enforce North Carolina law, investigate crimes, respond to emergencies, patrol university property and provide safety education.

Our role in the community-wide shared responsibility for safety on campus is to provide professional law enforcement, effective emergency response, crime & incident reduction and community outreach & education.

Campus safety is vital to NC State. We believe a well informed community can better protect itself and aid in the prevention of crime. By working in partnership with the campus community, University Police strives to provide the most professional, effective campus safety services possible. Through collaboration, we Protect the Pack and are most effective when members of the campus community being proactively engaged.

We are proud to be accredited by both the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators. Less than 40 university police departments nationally are accredited; we are the first university police department in North Carolina to be accredited by both organizations.

The NC State University Police Department has extended jurisdiction into the City of Raleigh. Our officers have full law enforcement authority to act both on and off campus while on duty. The NC State University Police Department will respond off campus to housing areas where NC State students reside, to investigate crimes that occurred on campus, effect an arrest that occurred in the officer’s presence, or when requested by the Raleigh Police Department. The NC State University Police Department will not routinely patrol off campus areas.
