Wake County Register of Deeds The official page of the Wake County Register of Deeds. This amounts to 1.1 million pages of real estate documents, marriage licenses, notary oaths and maps.

The Register of Deeds office provides numerous services to the legal community and the general public, including:

• recording legal documents and maps
• issuing marriage licenses
• issuing certified documents
• recording births and deaths
• issuing birth and death certificates
• administering Notary Public oaths

Approximately 230,000 documents are processed by our office each year. Every d

ay registry employees work tirelessly to ensure that the documents we record reflect the trust that our patrons place in us. This commitment to excellence is the very foundation of our service. Wake County Government:

We’ve received reports that residents are getting letters in the mail offering copies of their deed—for a fee.

Please know: you do NOT need to pay for a copy of your deed. These letters are misleading and often designed to look official.
