Girls on the Run International

Girls on the Run International We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum.

Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.

Girls aren't just preparing to become leaders someday — they're leaders today. At Girls on the Run, we're celebrating the girls who speak up with confidence, lift up their teammates, and make a difference in their schools and communities every day. And the skills learned at practice stay with them long after they cross the finish line.

When we invest in these girls today, we're investing in leaders who are already making an impact — and will continue to do so for years to come. Not all after-school activities are created equal. 96% of Girls on the Run alums interviewed as part of our Alums Study said it’s different from other sports or physical activities. Why? Because it’s about so much more than running — including life lessons, social-emotional learning, and a welcoming environment. Girls said it’s more fun, more encouraging, and more focused on belonging and teamwork

Registration is underway for the fall season from coast to coast. Find the council in your community and give your girl an experience that goes far beyond the finish line: https://www.girlsontherun.org/alums-study/

A new school year can bring a lot of emotions. Your girl might feel excited, nervous, or somewhere in between when faced with new schools, teachers, or classmates. Try starting a new after-school routine that gives you time to connect and reflect on what happened that day. Maybe you each share one thing you're grateful for, or you set aside time for a screen-free activity you can enjoy together. Want to give her another avenue to use her voice and find her confidence? Find a Girls on the Run team in your area: https://www.girlsontherun.org/connect-locally/
