🇺🇸 Today, on this solemn Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation.

Your courage and service have secured the freedoms we cherish every single day. As first responders, we understand the weight of service, and we stand in deep gratitude for those who never came home.

To the families and loved ones of our fallen heroes: we see you, and we honor your sacrifice.

We also want to recognize the many veterans serving on our Wake County EMS team today. Thank you for continuing to protect and serve our community!

May we never forget. 🇺🇸

Happy EMS Week! Today’s theme is EMS Recognition Day! We’ve had a fun week! The entire week has been spent recognizing our providers in various ways! From goodie bags and cookouts, thank you cards and an employee night out, to admin ride-alongs and t-shirts!

Last night was the first Nightshift Dinner this week! The second one is tonight, so we can catch multiple shift rotations. This event is organized and led by our field staff!

Everyone has stepped up to make this week special for our providers! Thank you to our hospital partners for all the snacks and goodies at the EDs this week!

Yesterday morning, we were grateful to have a group of Wake County EMS retirees come share breakfast with the Academy! It was a great time of celebration for our 50th anniversary!

The retirees shared some of their stories from when we first started!! And the Academy got to hear about lessons others have already learned, so they can use that information in their own practice moving forward!

Thank you to those who came to celebrate with us and share your stories! We are so grateful to have such a strong foundation and a history we can be proud of!

Happy EMS Week! Today's theme is Save-a-Life (CPR & Stop the Bleed). Here at Wake County EMS, we are passionate about preparing our citizens to help in an emergency before first responders arrive. We teach Hands-Only CPR and Stop the Bleed across the County.

We go into the community and teach both of those classes for free! We also give presentations to groups on requested topics, such as a special presentation for seniors that has been created from the most requested topics from that population.

We firmly believe that everyone should know how to perform CPR, use an AED, and stop a major bleed. Those three skills would save so many lives!

If you're an instructor in these types of classes, keep it up! Thank you to all of our EMS providers in the County who put this knowledge into practice daily, saving the lives of our Wake County residents and guests.

Thank you to Duke Life Flight for stopping by for EMS Week and dropping off some goodies!

“How many docs does it take to change a lightbulb?”💡

Medic 55 approached as Dr. Studnek, PhD (Director), and District Captain Overman arrived to greet crews. They asked if DC Overman had a spare headlight. Well, of course, Dr. Studnek stepped up to handle the job!

Then Dr. Godfrey, MD (Asst. Deputy Medical Director), arrived, also greeted the crews, and jumped in to assist. After about 30 min, 55 stopped winking, and both headlights were shining brightly! 😉

Happy EMS Week! Today's theme is Safety Tuesday. We recognize our Operations division!

We take the safety of our patients and providers very seriously. We conduct annual and monthly training to ensure we are safe not only in our operations but also in our medication administration!

We have safety built into our culture. We learn about it through continuing education and practice it in every patient interaction!

🗣A Proclamation! Thank you, Holly Springs Mayor Kondratick, for the EMS Week proclamation! We are very honored and grateful that you wanted to visit during one of our continuing education days, when many employees were present.

Thank you for taking the time to come visit! We are grateful for the opportunity to take care of the residents of Holly Springs as part of our community.

Do some of the faces in the photos look familiar? That's because they are Holly Springs residents or crew members who work for us! Make sure to say 'hi' the next time you see them in the field!

Happy EMS Week! Today's theme is EMS Education Day! Along with the national theme, we want to recognize our very own training department!

The Division of Professional Development provides all training for new and current staff. They do everything from the new-hire Academy, In-house Paramedic Program, and continuing education for released providers to high school internships and an EMT class!

We would not be a top agency without our training department! Thank you, Training Captains and Instructors, for helping us stay sharp and credentialed!
