Rise Against Hunger

Rise Against Hunger Stop Hunger Now rebranded to become Rise Against Hunger in 2017 and still remains driven by Ray’s vision of a world without hunger.

We help underserved people worldwide achieve food security and resilience through nutrition, education and economic empowerment, fueled by a global movement of volunteers and partners. In 1998, envisioning a world without hunger, Ray Buchanan — a United Methodist minister — founded Stop Hunger Now with the goal of providing food and other assistance to people facing hunger around the world. g Rise Against Hunger’s work is the recognition that ending hunger is more than just feeding people. Through our Pathways to End Hunger, we focus on both providing immediate nourishment for those in need today and implementing sustainable solutions that will lift entire communities for years to come. Our Empowering Communities pathway promotes improvements in agricultural production and rural livelihoods to help individuals increase their incomes and access to food. While long-term food security takes root, our Nourishing Lives pathway provides nutrition through safety net programs and encourages education, vocational training and health services that support the difficult journey out of poverty. From droughts to floods, in conflict zones and political crises, everyday access to food, wages and market systems can be destroyed in the wake of emergencies. The Responding to Emergencies pathway deploys food and other assistance in communities when it is needed most. Rise Against Hunger recognizes that hunger will not end without the fourth pathway of Growing a Global Movement by engaging hundreds of thousands of volunteers and advocates each year through our meal packaging program, virtual engagement opportunities and other initiatives. These Hunger Champions build awareness and activation surrounding the importance of ending world hunger.

Today is , which focuses on raising awareness about the 673 million people facing hunger globally and taking action to address this issue.

2.3 billion people also don’t have consistent access to enough food. This isn't just a statistic. Each digit is a real person with a real future waiting to be fulfilled.

You help change the trajectory. A world without hunger can become a reality when we collectively work together. If you’ve volunteered or donated to our mission, you’ve made progress possible.

This World Hunger Day, we've set a goal to raise $10,000 to provide microgrants to schools around the world. Hunger is about more than food alone, so we're helping schools establish safe kitchens, clean water and reliable infrastructure to nourish students every day.

Will you help bring the next school project to life? We can't do this without you ➡️ https://hubs.li/Q04hp_ZZ0

𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗧 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 💧 Schools in Kenya now have safe kitchens, clean water and reliable infrastructure — and you helped make this possible!

Supporting a student’s nutrition goes beyond providing food. It requires safe places to prepare and access the meals. Through your generosity, these needs have been met for students in southwestern Kenya!

Rise Against Hunger provided funding for new school kitchens. Boreholes were also drilled to provide clean water for cooking, cleaning and daily use. Check out the video to see the boreholes in action!

These aren’t small changes. They create safer environments, stronger communities and healthier futures.

is one week away, and we’re raising money to help more schools reach their full potential. Will you help fund our next school project? Give now: https://hubs.li/Q04hphTD0

On May 15 in Draper, Utah, a gong rang out dozens of times — each time marking progress toward BambooHR's goal to package 130,000 meals with Rise Against Hunger. 📦

In just three hours, 900 BambooHR employees reached that goal, showing what is possible with dedication and altruism. The meals packaged that afternoon will provide over 600 people with consistent access to nutritious food for a year.

The event was particularly special because BambooHR and Rise Against Hunger hit an impactful milestone together. BambooHR reached (and exceeded!) 500,000 meals collectively packaged since our partnership began in 2017!

In Kisii, Kenya, Deborah is on the path to a bright future!

While attending Sosera Primary School, Deborah received daily meals through the Feed for Knowledge school feeding program, implemented by Rise Against Hunger and our partner Rural Family Hope. With the nourishment she needed to thrive academically, she became one of the school's top students!

Deborah has since graduated from primary school, but her story doesn't end there. She now attends St. Charles Ichuni Girls Secondary School with a one-year full scholarship and is pursuing her dreams!

Deborah's story is a powerful reminder of how access to nutrition and education can help students reach their full potential. This is the impact The Journey of a Meal makes in communities all over the world — a seed of hope that blooms into transformation!

Did you know ANY group can host a Rise Against Hunger meal packaging event? Corporations, churches, civic groups, schools and even family and friends can make a hands-on impact!

The Pender family did exactly that in Foster City, California! After packaging meals with their church earlier this year, Camille, their daughter, was inspired to bring the experience to her own community. On May 5, Camille, alongside her siblings Caleb and Finley, invited 65 friends, family and classmates to package 10,000 meals at the local middle school.

In just two hours, these volunteers made a lasting impact by providing critical nutrition and supporting education and economic empowerment for families around the world.

Every life begins with a moment of care — a mother holding her child, a caregiver making sure there’s enough to eat, a small decision that shapes what comes next.

In honor of Mother's Day, we're sharing the story of an inspiring mother. In India, Sunita works in her community to improve the health of women and their babies. Check out the video to hear her story and see the impact of the first 1,000 days!

The first 1,000 days of life — from pregnancy to age two — are crucial for a child's long-term development. With the right nutrition in those early days, children can grow, learn and thrive.

Your support ensures mothers, like Sunita, and their babies receive the nourishment and resources they need during this critical time. This Mother’s Day, we want to say thank you for being a part of this work. ❤️

When you’re gathered around the funnel station at a Rise Against Hunger meal packaging event, you’re doing more than packaging meals. You’re becoming part of someone’s story as they work toward achieving food security and resilience. ❤️

The meals provide critical nutrition, support education and foster economic empowerment for underserved people worldwide. And you make this impact possible by volunteering — like 20 corporate professionals did last week by packaging 10,000 meals in North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park!

These RTP volunteers made a hands-on impact in the work to end world hunger — and so can you! Take the first step to hosting your own meal packaging event here ➡️ https://hubs.li/Q04f78XB0
