Don't let your guard down this hurricane season!🌧️🌀
After seeing the damage from previous hurricanes in North Carolina, we know how important it is to plan ahead.
✅Get flood insurance — Most homeowners policies don’t cover flooding, and coverage takes 30 days to activate.
✅Make a home inventory — Photos or videos of your belongings can help with insurance claims.
✅Pack an emergency kit — Include water, medications, flashlights, batteries, and key documents.
Don’t wait until it's too late. For more information on what to do before, during, and after a storm, visit ncdoi.gov/disaster

As hurricane season begins, many people will begin making preparations but not enough think about what to do AFTER the storm passes. Sadly, fraud is very common after a big storm. If you have storm damage in your neighborhood, be on the lookout for roofing and contractor scams. Only work with licensed and insured contractors. Insurance fraud costs all of us more money (approximately $900 per consumer).
What to watch for:
-Price gouging or inflated repair costs from dishonest contractors
-Scammers posing as charities asking for donations
-Asking for money upfront before any work is completed.
