❤️ Life insurance is about protecting the people who matter most.

September is Life Insurance Awareness Month, and Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey is encouraging North Carolinians to take a closer look at their coverage and make sure their loved ones are protected.

We also offer a Lost Life Insurance Policy Locator at NCDOI to help families find missing policies. Last year alone, our program helped recover $65 million for North Carolina consumers.

It's been 35 years, and North Carolina continues to remember the 25 employees who lost their lives in the Imperial Foods plant fire in Hamlet.

Our NCDOI Fire & Risk Reduction Chief Corey Mercer joined state and community leaders for a remembrance ceremony honoring those who lost their lives and the families and community forever changed by the tragedy.

The fire left a lasting impact on North Carolina’s fire service and became a catalyst for significant changes in fire safety, including the development of today’s Fire Prevention Code.

We honor those who lost their lives and extend our thoughts to their families and the entire Hamlet community.

🚗 SLOW DOWN this Labor Day Weekend!

More people will be traveling on North Carolina roads, which means it’s especially important to stay alert, follow the speed limit and give yourself plenty of time to travel.

The NC Governor's Highway Safety Program Booze It & Lose It campaign is underway now through Sept. 13. If you plan to drink, arrange for a sober ride home. And put the phone down! Distracted driving puts everyone on the road at risk and can impact your auto insurance if you have an accident.

Slow down. Stay safe. Have a great Labor Day Weekend!

North Carolina’s Labor Day “Booze It & Lose It” campaign is underway now through September 13, with law enforcement agencies increasing patrols and checkpoints across the state to keep impaired drivers off the road.

Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey reminds drivers that the consequences of impaired driving can go far beyond a ticket or arrest. A crash can mean serious injuries, costly damage and higher auto insurance costs.

If you plan to drink, plan your ride before you head out. Designate a sober driver, call a friend, or use a taxi or ride service to get home safely.
