Calling all cucumber fans! Visit President James K. Polk State Historic Site on September 12 for a cooking demonstration that will highlight some of the ways this summer staple was prepared in the past.

Come visit us September 12 for our next cooking demonstration.
The cooking demo for September will focus on the cucumber. Though it is classified as a fruit, it is generally served as a vegetable. During the 18th century, it was often served stewed, cooked or ragooed.
We are going to make a Forced - Meat cucumber, stewed cucumbers and a cucumber dish called Mandrang. Of course, pickles are a must!
