La Vista Police are searching for 14-year-old Nevah Meyers. She is epileptic, ran away from her grandmother's house, and needs her medication. She was last seen leaving from 7232 Josephine Ct. and she was wearing blue jeans, a black shirt and a jean jacket. She is 5'6", 130 pounds. If you see her or know where she is, please contact the La Vista Police Department at 402.331.1582.

🚸 School Zone Safety Reminder 🚸

School has been back in session for a couple of weeks, and we want to remind everyone to slow down, stay alert, and follow posted traffic laws in the school zones around Ralston. A few extra seconds of caution can help keep our students, families, and staff safe.

Ralston High School

🚫 No stopping, standing, or parking along Park Dr. Please do not stop to drop off or pick up passengers. Use the school parking lot instead.

🔄 No U-turns are permitted on Park Dr.

🚶 Watch for pedestrians and always yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.

Ralston Middle School, Seymour Elementary School, St. Gerald Catholic

➡️ Lakeview St. is one-way between 80th St. and 84th St., with traffic traveling eastbound only.

🐢 The speed limit on Lakeview St. between 77th Ave. and 84th St. is 15 mph during morning and afternoon school hours.

🚗 Watch for signs marking designated drop-off areas, and do not park where signs prohibit parking.

➡️ 79th St. between Seymour St. and Lakeview St. is one-way before and after school, with traffic traveling southbound only.

🚶 Watch for pedestrians and always yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.

Wildewood Elementary School

Yesterday, we talked about the dangerous combination of alcohol, speed, and reckless driving. Today, we’re highlighting another equally dangerous combination: alcohol, a concealed firearm, and driving.

This morning, officers conducted a traffic stop and, following an investigation, determined that the driver was intoxicated and carrying a concealed handgun.

The driver provided a breath sample registering more than twice the legal limit. The driver was arrested for DUI – 2nd Offense and Carrying a Concealed Weapon While Intoxicated.

We’ve said it before, but we’ll say it again: If you’re going to consume alcohol, please don’t drive. Arrange for a safe ride home.
And please, do not carry a firearm while intoxicated. It’s illegal, and more importantly, it’s unsafe.

Make the safe choice. Don’t drink and drive. Don’t carry a firearm while impaired.

Another reminder that alcohol, excessive speed, and driving are a dangerous combination.

Last night, the driver of this vehicle lost control while traveling at a high rate of speed around a curve. The vehicle left the roadway and ended up in a drainage ditch, narrowly avoiding the Papio Creek.

The driver was arrested for and a slew of additional charges.

Please don’t be like this guy. If you’ve been drinking, make the right choice and don’t get behind the wheel. Arrange for a safe ride home and help keep yourself and everyone else on the road safe.

One bad decision can change lives. Don’t let it be yours.

Ralston PD will have extra officers on the street from Aug 21-Sept 7 as part of the national "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" traffic initiative. These officers will be looking to take impaired drivers off our roadways. If you've been drinking, please find a safe way to get home!
